Account Lead Mid-Marketnew

ClearBank (ClearBank) · Bank

Account Lead, Mid-Market

Let’s transform banking forever

ClearBank is built on the belief that banking infrastructure shouldn’t slow down progress. Quite the opposite. Speed it up and that’s when you unlock potential. When you really start to innovate.

That spirit and ‘can-do’ attitude is why our clients – from FinTech's and crypto platforms, to banks and credit unions – choose to use our API to power their banking infrastructure.

But it’s our people who are the stars here. They power that innovation, push harder to break boundaries. They make coming to work (or working from home) fun. They’re the ones we trust to catapult our clients to success. Just as they trust us to build a business that’s always striding forward.

What you can expect:

ClearBank is a place where you can do things differently and challenge the status quo. We will give you a high level of autonomy and transparency, and we trust you to make the right decisions for the bank.

Your Mission:

You’ll join the Client Management team as an Account Lead for the Mid-Market segment, with a clear focus on winning new clients and accelerating sustainable revenue growth.

You’ll identify and develop high-potential prospects, build a strong and well-qualified pipeline, and lead opportunities through the full business development cycle. Working across ClearBank, you’ll bring together the right expertise to understand prospective clients’ needs, shape compelling solutions and convert opportunities into successful new relationships.

This includes

  • Developing and executing a focused business development plan for the Mid-Market segment, aligned with agreed commercial priorities and target client profiles.

  • Identifying and targeting prospective clients through structured market mapping, research, referrals, networking, industry events and proactive outreach.

  • Building and maintaining a healthy, well-qualified pipeline of new business opportunities, with clear next steps, accurate forecasting and disciplined progression through each stage.

  • Creating and executing account-based prospecting plans for priority organisations, engaging relevant decision-makers and building relationships across the buying group.

  • Leading the end-to-end new business cycle, from initial engagement and discovery through solution development, commercial negotiation and contract completion.

  • Conducting effective discovery to understand each prospect’s strategy, business model, customer needs and commercial priorities, translating these into relevant opportunities for ClearBank.

  • Developing compelling propositions that clearly articulate ClearBank’s value and provide informed perspectives on how prospective clients could achieve their objectives.

  • Collaborating across Product, Solutions, Risk, Compliance, Legal and other relevant teams to assess opportunities, shape viable proposals and progress new business efficiently.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely opportunity information, using pipeline data and market insight to support forecasting, prioritisation and commercial decision-making.

  • Representing ClearBank externally at relevant industry events and forums, using these opportunities to create relationships, generate leads and strengthen the Mid-Market proposition.

What we’re looking for (Skills & Experience)

This role would suit a business development focused professional with a strong record of identifying, developing and converting new client opportunities. You’ll be comfortable creating opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound demand, and able to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple senior stakeholders.

In addition:

  • Demonstrable experience of winning new clients through proactive business development, prospecting and relationship creation.

  • A strong track record of building, qualifying and converting sales pipelines in a complex B2B environment.

  • Experience managing the full new business development cycle, from market mapping and initial outreach through discovery, proposal development, negotiation and close.

  • Ability to develop clear target-client and account plans, prioritising activity according to strategic fit, client need and commercial potential.

  • Strong discovery and consultative selling skills, with the ability to uncover client challenges and translate them into relevant commercial propositions.

  • Experience building relationships with senior decision makers and navigating multiple stakeholders within prospective client organisations.

  • Strong commercial judgement, including the ability to qualify opportunities, focus effort effectively and balance growth objectives with risk considerations.

  • Clear communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex banking or payments propositions in an accessible and compelling way.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Solutions, Risk, Compliance, Legal and operational stakeholders throughout the sales process.

  • Relevant knowledge of banking, payments, fintech or financial services would be advantageous.

What success looks like in the role

  • A strong, credible and well-qualified pipeline is developed and maintained against agreed Mid-Market priorities.

  • Priority prospects are engaged through consistent, targeted and insight-led business development activity.

  • Forecasts and pipeline information are accurate, current and supported by clear evidence and next actions.

  • New client relationships are built on a sound understanding of client needs, commercial value and appropriate consideration of risk.
