Job Description

The Accounts Payable assistant role will be supporting the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, expenses and payments, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently, and suppliers are paid on time.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and accurately record supplier invoices and credit notes.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery documentation where applicable.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.
  • Prepare supplier, staff expense and broker payment runs and ensure payments are made within agreed terms.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate outstanding balances.
  • Carrying out month end tasks including bank reconciliations, prepayments and control account reconciliations.
  • Using basic knowledge to post journals using the correct double entry for each item.
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Involvement with process improvements via automation, AI

 

    Qualifications

    Skills & Experience

    • Experience of using Proactis P2P system (or equivalent)
    • Experience of working in an Accounts Payable role
    • Team player
    • Experience of using SUN general ledger system (or equivalent)
    • Reconciliations experience
    • Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • Enthusiastic “can do” attitude
    • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Analytical approach with strong problem-solving skills
    • Establishes effective working relationships at all levels
    • Customer Focused approach
