Citi (Citi) · Other

Services provides global solutions that help corporations, financial institutions, public sector and commercial clients optimize operations and drive their business forward. Through our five business lines – Liquidity Management Services, Payments, Trade & Working Capital Solutions, Investor Services and Issuer Services - we provide cash management, payments/receivables solutions, working capital solutions, post-trade securities services and issuer services across Citi’s global network.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director – AI & Agentic Solutions, Liquidity Management to lead the next phase of AI Strategy & Transformation across Citi’s Liquidity Management business.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior professional who combines deep expertise in liquidity products and solutions with proven experience developing and deploying Generative AI and agentic AI capabilities.

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic bridge between Liquidity Management, Treasury, Product, Technology, Data & AI, Operations, Risk and senior business leadership. The role will identify high-value opportunities, define the AI strategy, and lead the development of production-ready solutions that materially improve how liquidity products are designed, managed, sold and delivered.

This is not a traditional AI engineering role. We are looking for a leader who understands the economics, products and workflows of liquidity management and can apply emerging AI technologies to solve complex banking problems.

What Makes This Role Distinct

Unlike a platform or engineering-focused AI role, this position is defined by:

  • Deep ownership of a Liquidity Management business line's AI agenda.

  • Direct client co-creation and external engagement to validate and shape AI solutions

  • A mandate to drive commercial outcomes — revenue, cost savings, and competitive differentiation — not just technology delivery

  • Leading a matrixed, global product team across multiple regions, functions, and regulatory environments

Key Responsibilities:

AI Strategy & Commercial Ownership

  • Own and execute the AI and Agentic AI strategy for Liquidity Management.

  • Establish a multi-year roadmap covering Generative AI, agentic AI, advanced analytics and intelligent automation.

  • Identify and prioritize high-value opportunities based on business impact, feasibility, scalability, risk and client value.

  • Lead initiatives from business problem identification through AI design, proof of concept, production deployment and adoption.

  • Advise senior Liquidity and Treasury leadership on emerging AI capabilities and their potential business impact.

  • Establish scalable AI patterns, frameworks and capabilities that can be deployed across multiple liquidity products and processes

Liquidity Product & Business Expertise — REQUIRED

The candidate must possess hands-on experience with bank liquidity products and solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Apply deep knowledge of liquidity management to identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation.

  • Partner with product and business leaders across:

    • Cash management

    • Deposits

    • Liquidity concentration, Cash pooling, Sweeps

    • Intraday liquidity

    • Liquidity forecasting

    • Working capital solutions

    • Treasury management solutions

    • Client liquidity optimization

  • Identify opportunities to develop AI-enabled liquidity products and advisory capabilities.

  • Understand client liquidity structures and translate complex client needs into AI-enabled solutions.

  • Use AI to improve product configuration, solution design, client analysis, forecasting, pricing and relationship-manager effectiveness.

Agentic AI Development

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade AI agents and multi-agent workflows.

  • Identify processes where agents can safely perform multi-step tasks rather than simply generate information.

  • Define appropriate levels of AI autonomy and human oversight.

  • Partner with engineering and AI/ML teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure and production-ready.

  • Establish appropriate controls around accuracy, hallucination, data access, authorization, privacy and model risk.

Business Use Cases

The Director will be expected to identify and deliver innovative use cases such as:

Liquidity Intelligence

  • AI agents that analyze client liquidity positions, balances and transaction activity.

  • Identification of liquidity opportunities, anomalies and potential client needs.

  • Automated liquidity insights and recommendations.

Forecasting & Decision Support

  • AI-enabled liquidity forecasting and scenario analysis.

  • Intelligent interpretation of liquidity trends and drivers.

  • Agentic workflows supporting liquidity planning and decision-making.

Responsible AI & Governance

  • Ensure all AI capabilities are built in line with Citi's enterprise risk standards — establishing model risk governance, data lineage, explainability standards, and regulatory compliance controls

  • Proactively partner with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Model Risk to navigate the regulatory landscape from day one

Senior Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Liquidity Management and Treasury executives.

  • Present AI strategy, investment cases, business outcomes and risks to senior management.

  • Build strong partnerships across Technology, Data, AI/ML, Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Cybersecurity.

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across business and technology organizations.

  • Influence enterprise priorities and secure sponsorship for strategic AI initiatives.

  • Drive adoption and change management across the organization.

Who We're Looking For

Required

  • 12+ years of product management or product leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of delivering large-scale, technology-led products

  • Deep, demonstrated knowledge of bank liquidity products and solutions.

  • Experience working directly with liquidity products, Treasury solutions, client liquidity structures or related banking businesses.

  • Ability to translate a complex banking problem into a practical AI solution architecture.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying Generative AI and/or agentic AI solutions.

  • Demonstrated P&L ownership or direct accountability for a key business metric significantly improved through product launches

  • 5+ years of direct or indirect external client-facing experience; comfortable co-creating and validating products with enterprise clients

  • Knowledge of AI governance, model risk management, responsible AI and financial-services regulatory requirements.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills — ability to build consensus, influence without authority, and operate effectively in a matrixed global organization

  • Outstanding communication skills; ability to translate complex AI concepts for executive, technical, and client audiences alike

Success Measures

  • Establish and execute a compelling Liquidity AI strategy.

  • Deliver production-grade agentic AI solutions.

  • Reduce manual processes and operational complexity.

  • Establish scalable AI capabilities that can be reused across products and businesses.

  • Increase adoption of AI across the Liquidity Management organization

  • Maintain strong governance, risk management and regulatory discipline.

  • Revenue generated and cost savings delivered through AI-powered products
