This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Retail Savings team as an Assistant Product Manager, perfect for someone looking to build a successful career in Product Management. Working within the Savings Delivery team, you'll support the day-to-day management of our savings products while playing a key role in delivering high-profile initiatives that make a real difference to both members and colleagues. From pricing changes and new product launches to process improvements and business-as-usual activities, you'll be at the heart of a fast-paced and varied environment where no two days are the same.
Working closely with Product Managers, the Savings Proposition team and Retail Pricing colleagues, you'll contribute to product deliveries, base rate and pricing changes, testing, approvals, data reconciliations and live-proofing activities. You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, build strong relationships and help identify smarter ways of working that will shape the future success of the team.
We're looking for someone with recent experience of savings products, processes and systems, ideally gained within Operations or a branch network role. You'll be a confident communicator who can work independently, manage multiple priorities and bring a strong analytical mindset with a natural aptitude for problem-solving. If you're passionate about delivering great outcomes for customers and keen to develop your product management expertise, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a 10-month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Northampton or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Whilst these locations are where we are primarily looking to fill the role, if you’re an internal applicant based in a different location we would welcome your application and if successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this could work for this specific role. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
What you’ll be doing
You'll work alongside Product Managers to deliver key Savings initiatives that enhance member outcomes, support business objectives and simplify the way we work. This includes helping to develop and implement delivery plans, contributing product expertise and supporting strategic projects that bring our priorities to life.
Collaborating with teams across the Society, you'll build a strong understanding of our products, policies, processes and systems, helping to ensure effective controls are in place to protect both members and the business. You'll also support the ongoing management of our Savings product portfolio through a range of business-as-usual activities, ensuring products remain effective, compliant and aligned to customer needs.
Working closely with colleagues across Communications, Digital, Retail and Risk, you'll play a key role in resolving issues, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping to implement solutions that strengthen our processes and enhance the member experience. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact while developing your knowledge and expertise.
About you
As a minimum, we're looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
Recent experience working with Savings products, processes and systems within a financial services environment
Experience in Operations, Retail Banking or a branch network role, with a practical understanding of customer journeys, operational processes and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience interpreting data, identifying trends and supporting business decision-making
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis tools and macros, alongside proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
Experience coordinating or supporting the delivery of product, pricing, change or business improvement initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and deliver accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams and presenting information clearly to a range of audiences
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
