Institutional Banking & Markets manages relationships with major corporate, government and institutional clients and delivers banking, capital, transaction and risk-management solutions.
This role supports the Diversified Industries and Energy, Commodities & Sustainability Coverage sector teams, comprising approximately 100 frontline bankers. These teams are responsible for managing key client relationships, originating opportunities and delivering banking solutions that support clients’ strategic and financial objectives.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director Business Manager, you'll partner closely with Managing Directors, sector leadership teams and approximately 100 frontline bankers across Diversified Industries and Energy, Commodities & Sustainability Coverage.
This is a hands-on business management role supporting business performance, portfolio management, reporting, data quality and operational effectiveness. You'll work across multiple priorities, helping translate strategy into action while identifying opportunities to leverage data, automation and AI to improve outcomes.
Do Work That Matters.
As Associate Director, you'll support the delivery of business management priorities across both sector teams. Building strong relationships with senior leaders and bankers.
You'll manage competing priorities, resolve issues and coordinate multiple workstreams while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, stakeholder service and delivery.
You'll also play a key role in improving how the business operates by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, enhance reporting and increase productivity through data, automation and AI.
Your responsibilities will include
- Support the delivery of business management priorities across both sector teams, managing risks, issues and competing priorities.
- Drive portfolio hygiene, reporting and data quality across client, financial and operational datasets.
- Prepare performance reporting, financial analysis and decision-ready insights for senior leadership.
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Product, Data and Technology to resolve issues and deliver outcomes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to leverage data, automation and AI to improve reporting and banker productivity.
- Support the adoption of reporting tools, dashboards and process improvements that enhance operational effectiveness.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture and provide guidance to junior team members where required.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have
- Proven experience in Corporate, Institutional or Business Banking.
- Experience in business management, portfolio management, finance, risk, operations or transformation roles.
- Strong financial, commercial and analytical capability, with experience interpreting business performance metrics and working across multiple data sources.
- Experience improving data quality, resolving exceptions and strengthening data governance.
- Practical understanding of data, automation and AI, and how these capabilities can improve business outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leaders and frontline teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing executive-level materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement.
