About the Role

As an Associate Director, Central Business Execution in our Strategy & Execution team, you’ll play a key role in working closely with senior leaders across Institutional Strategy and Execution, as well as senior stakeholders across the Division, you will support and manage the operating rhythm of the Institutional business.  This will include:

  • Helping to identify and lead activities to improve performance across the division
  • Analyse results, pipelines, portfolio and product performance to identify opportunities to improve profitability and customer activity
  • Well managed activities including secretariat functions
  • Provide guidance in effective management of the division’s overall risk profile, providing trusted advice to leadership teams on business risks and performance so that Institutional drives outcomes aligned with our FY30 objectives.
  • Some specific areas of focus could include but not limited to: Process Improvement and Transformation, developing and managing campaigns and initiatives that drive relationship strength (including responsibility for co-ordinating ANZ’s external survey participation) and specific Global Markets initiatives
  • Providing ad hoc support to the Director, Executive Business Execution

What will your day look like?

You will be accountable for:

 

  • Contributing to maximising profitable Institutional growth. 
  • Ensuring risk profile is maintained within acceptable parameters
  • Ensuring returns-focused initiatives are met
  • Work with Finance teams, portfolio management teams and other Business Execution teams to drive incremental improvement across Institutional, including portfolio and pipeline insights and observations.
  • Understand, analyse and share fact-based insights across the Business Unit that build on and support a well-managed business.
  • Providing statistically significant, fact-based insight as to where our client’s pain points exist in respect of our offering.
  • Through deep data analysis, work with other Business Execution team members to drive customer focused outcomes for all teams
  • Drive timely execution of customer and business initiatives, and regulatory commitments
  • Based on external surveys, benchmarks and internal analysis, work with senior leaders to design, communicate and drive actionable change initiatives which improve customer experience, ANZ’s ratings in the market and ultimately ANZ’s share of the accretive wallet.
  • Analyse customer feedback and data to ensure improvement in customer experience
  • Manage ad-hoc issues and requirements for the business as directed and prioritized by Director Business Execution Central or other leaders across Strategy & Execution from time to time
  • Be a change agent and drive efficiencies across processes and risk through ongoing review of processes
  • Assist with communication and execution of process improvements across Institutional
  • Customer First focus consistent with ANZ’s FY30 objectives and values
  • Grow collaborative working relationships across ANZ to ensure best value for customers and employees
  • Provide guidance and direction to teams in relation to policy and regulatory requirements
  • Assist colleagues and less experienced staff through sharing knowledge and coaching staff as required
  • Support activities and initiatives that drive employee engagement and commitment
  • Mentor/coach more junior members of the team.
  • Maintain a strong Risk partnership where Risk acts as an independent validation function
  • Support senior leaders in ensuring Strategy & Execution and Institutional more broadly, is well-managed.
  • Ensure compliance with ANZ’s obligations, procedures and risk/regulatory requirements.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Proven experience and understanding of the Institutional businesses. 
  • Microsoft office skills, with a strong emphasis on building, creating PowerPoint, advanced excel and Teams, SharePoint presentations for various audiences.
  • Strong understanding of Institutional, ideally with many years frontline (product, coverage or R&A) experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem solving and collaboration skills – an ability to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses of a problem, engage appropriate SMEs and bring together effective and realistic recommendations that lead to meaningful improvement across the business.
  • Deep data and analytical skills
  • Ability to identify trends, execute improvements, navigating different teams, businesses and overcoming roadblocks.
  • Well organised, able to manage and prioritise a large and fast-moving workload, coordinating and delivering multiple simultaneous initiatives. 
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills - spoken, written and in person. Proven experience in building and maintaining strong sponsor and key stakeholder relationships. 
  • An understanding of the external environment and awareness of the regulatory expectations and requirements
  • High energy and self-motivated. Strong resilience and maturity of approach. Senior stature and presence.
