What’s the role?
As an Avaloq Principal Engineer, you will provide leadership in the design, development and implementation of Avaloq Core Platform solutions. You will drive architecture, establish engineering standards and deliver secure, scalable and reliable capabilities aligned with Westpac’s technology strategy and customer needs.
Additionally, you'll lead Avaloq development, design reviews, code audits, release decisions and performance optimisation using ICE, SQL Developer, Oracle and PL/SQL. You’ll apply deep knowledge of Avaloq modules, interfaces, EOD, Pillars and rule loading, while setting CI/CD, DevOps, quality, risk and compliance standards across Agile teams.
You will advise senior stakeholders, resolve platform issues, manage risks and influence Avaloq product solutions. You will mentor specialists, coach teams, collaborate with vendors and architecture groups, and drive continuous improvement, automation and innovation across the application lifecycle, ensuring solutions remain sustainable, fit for purpose and aligned with business requirements.
What do I need?
- Ideally 10 years of hands-on Avaloq Core Platform development and implementation experience.
- Extensive experience in software development, application design and leading complex Avaloq platform deliveries.
- Deep expertise across Avaloq modules, ICE, SQL Developer, Oracle, PL/SQL and the Avaloq change lifecycle.
- Proven ability to drive Avaloq architecture, solution design, technical standards and major design decisions.
- Strong experience conducting design reviews, code audits and leading quality control, scalability and coding standards.
- Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including performance tuning, release management and resolving complex platform issues.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders, vendors and architecture forums while mentoring technical teams.
