The Hong Kong Corporate Actuarial acts as financial management hub, providing professional advices and services to senior management in the state-of-the-art actuarial areas across IFRS17 valuation reporting and analysis, Hong Kong RBC capital valuation and management, business planning and forecasting, participating business and reinsurance management, as well as statutory financial reporting duties to the regulators.

Reporting to the Hong Kong Chief Actuary, this role is senior valuation actuary covering the valuation and financial reporting responsibilities and oversights in the department, leading sub-teams of 20+ actuaries and managing insurance liabilities portfolio of approx. US$50 billion. This senior actuary will also be right-hand partner of CFO and other senior management in supporting business initiatives and offering professional actuarial advices and execution. He or she will also be a member of the senior actuaries leadership team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead actuarial valuation processes and controls to ensure compliance to internal policies, relevant accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, on a number of a basis of key financials.

  • Own financial reporting deliveries on a timely and quality manner, including communication, explanation and presentation to senior management.

  • Drive continual financial management and optimization, including review, advice, and execute business initiatives.

  • Manage a large sub-team of actuaries, including manager level, for coaching on both individual and team management.

  • Champion valuation and reporting processes improvement and efficiency including actuarial modelling.

  • Represent Chief Actuary in working closely with CFO and other stakeholders including business management, regional and group office actuarial and Chief Actuary, as well external auditors and regulators

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree holder

  • Professional actuarial qualifications.

  • At minimum 15 years’ experience in insurance relevant industry

  • Track of record of team leadership experiences

  • Experiences in valuation and financial reporting including IFRS and HKRBC

  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills

  • Strong project management skills, being able to drive things forward

  • Able to manage to work flexibly under dynamic business environment

  • Team leader who good at coaching and inspiring people

  • Effective command of English, both spoken and written

  • Experience in AXIS actuarial modeling an asset, yet not a must
