Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing (BXMA) manages $109 billion across a diversified set of businesses. We strive to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns for our clients across market cycles. Our strategies include Absolute Return, Multi-Strategy, Total Portfolio Management, and Public Real Assets.
Job Description:
The role will sit within the Asia team as part of the Absolute Return investment team, whose largest line of business makes LP investments in hedge funds. The Asia team works closely with BXMA’s strategy-focused teams to source, underwrite, monitor and make allocation decisions for Asia hedge fund investments. Strategies include Equities, Quant, Credit, and Macro. This role offers the opportunity to analyze, evaluate, and engage with hedge fund managers based in Asia, as well as interface with colleagues across the globe.
In addition, the role involves helping to support the Portfolio Strategy Group for Asia-based clients on their customized absolute return portfolios. The Portfolio Strategy Group works with BXMA’s strategy teams, the Portfolio Management team and the Institutional Client Solutions team, to ensure that:
Portfolios are positioned to accomplish the long-term objectives of our clients.
Performance outcomes are well understood by our clients in the context of broader market and industry developments.
Clients view BXMA as a long-term partner that can help enhance their organizations beyond simply managing their capital.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities will include:
Sourcing and performing due diligence on prospective hedge fund investments in Asia, in close collaboration with global strategy teams.
Developing and sharing views on key market opportunities and themes in Asia.
Partnering with the Portfolio Strategy Group to support Asia-based clients. Translating investment views into presentations, talking points and scripts for both internal and client-facing content.
Monitoring existing hedge fund relationships, and tracking key positions and exposures in the portfolio.
Developing and utilizing a personal network to source new investments and assist in a deeper understanding of existing investments.
Working with managers to source, diligence and underwrite co-investment opportunities, leveraging Blackstone’s various groups where appropriate.
Training and mentoring of junior team members.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and time management skills, the successful candidate should have:
7 to 10+ years of hedge fund industry experience, preferably including manager selection experience in Asia. Direct investment or research experience in quantitative strategies or macro strategies, in addition to fundamental equity strategies, would be beneficial.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Candidate should be a self-motivated and a team-oriented individual who thrives on challenge in a dynamic environment, often tasked with competing deadlines.
Fluent English and Chinese language skills (written and verbal Mandarin) are required.
