What’s the Role?

As a Business Development Manager, Small Business you’ll be working to become the next generation of broker-facing Business Development Managers. You will combine the day-to-day rigour of managing a portfolio of broker-introduced deals (in a Local Business Banker capacity) with the relationship and networking focus of a Broker BDM – while also gaining exposure to larger, more complex transactions by supporting our existing BDM team. 

It's a purpose-built development pathway that blends hands-on deal work with broker network-building and BDM shadowing, setting you up for progression into a dedicated Business Development Manager, Broker role.

Your role will have you taking Ownership of Broker Files, Broker Network Development (BDM Exposure), Supporting BDMs on Larger, Complex Deals, and other role specific training to get you ready to grow into a BDM.

What Do I Need?

• Proven experience in Business Banking, ideally with exposure to broker-originated or small business lending.
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with a genuine enjoyment of meeting new people and growing a network.
• Demonstrated success in generating new and existing broker networks
• Ability to influence and guide conversations with key stakeholders, including brokers, customers and internal partners.
• Sound understanding of structuring lending solutions, with the ability (or appetite to learn) to work on more complex financial products and services.
• Strong business acumen, solid organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently
• A track record of delivering results that exceed customer expectations, with strong attention to risk, compliance and credit quality.
