We’re looking for a Business Support Consultant to join Colleague Engagement, reporting to the Business Planning Manager. This is a varied and hands-on role at the heart of the team, helping us stay organised, connected and focused on the priorities that matter most. You’ll support business planning, governance, reporting, meetings, events, budgets, suppliers and team engagement activity, providing the structure, coordination and follow-through that helps our leaders and teams deliver brilliant colleague and customer outcomes.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
You'll play a key role in keeping the Colleague Engagement team organised and connected, providing proactive support to the Business Planning Manager and leadership team. You'll coordinate priorities, manage information and help ensure activities and commitments continue to move forward effectively.
Day to day, you'll maintain plans, trackers, forward agendas and action logs, helping colleagues stay aligned on priorities and key milestones. You'll coordinate the preparation of papers, reports, updates and governance materials, ensuring information is accurate, timely and ready for the right audience.
You'll provide secretariat support for meetings, forums and huddles, including agenda planning, note taking, action tracking and follow up. You'll also support colleague engagement activity and flagship events, helping to coordinate logistics, suppliers, materials, stakeholder contributions and delegate arrangements.
Using insight, data and feedback, you'll support reporting and continuous improvement activity, helping the team identify opportunities to simplify processes and enhance the colleague experience. Throughout your work, you'll build strong relationships across Colleague Engagement and the wider Society, providing trusted support with professionalism, sound judgement and discretion.
About you
As a minimum you’ll have:
Experience coordinating multiple priorities, deadlines, meetings and deliverables simultaneously, with the ability to maintain accuracy and momentum in a fast paced environment
Experience providing business support, operational coordination, project support or executive/team administration, including managing actions, tracking progress and supporting the delivery of key business activities
Strong written communication and content management skills, with experience preparing, reviewing and quality checking materials such as articles, scripts, meeting packs, presentations, briefing notes, stakeholder updates or internal communications
Experience coordinating activity across multiple stakeholders, with the confidence to challenge, follow up and hold others accountable for agreed actions and deadlines
Demonstrable experience quality checking, proofreading or reviewing communications content, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, governance considerations and areas for improvement before publication or distribution
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, with experience using them to manage information, coordinate activity and produce high quality outputs
Evidence of identifying process improvements, simplifying ways of working or implementing more efficient approaches, while adapting effectively to changing priorities and business requirements
Experience identifying and implementing improvements to processes, governance activities or team ways of working, resulting in greater efficiency, consistency or quality
