Cash Management Specialist (Hybrid - Columbia, SC)
The Cash Management Specialist is responsible for processing cash-related transactions, performing daily reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with operational controls and procedures. This role supports the efficient movement of funds, resolves transaction exceptions, identifies process improvement opportunities, and collaborates across business and technical teams to enhance operational performance, service quality, and risk management
Manage Cash Transaction Processing
- Process incoming payments and decision exception items.
- Prepare and process remote deposits or manual deposits.
- Address and resolve rejected or suspended transactions promptly.
- Ensure all transactions align with internal controls and compliance standards.
Perform Daily Reconciliation
- Reconcile cash services applications against funds movement, including ACH and vendor deposits.
- Investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions within defined timelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all reconciliations.
- Oversee AgriLine billing reconciliation and process chargebacks.
- Manage scheduling and maintenance for check ordering systems.
Maintain Procedures, Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Keep standard operating procedures (SOPs) current and accurate.
- Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams for process updates.
- Monitor reports and vendor portals to ensure data integrity.
- Provide customer support for cash management products and services.
- Identify process inefficiencies, control gaps, and manual touchpoints within cash operations workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, service quality, and operational effectiveness.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including workflow analysis, root cause analysis, automation opportunities, testing, and implementation of operational enhancements.
- Track and communicate recurring exceptions, reconciliation issues, operational trends, and customer service opportunities to support continuous improvement efforts and mitigate operational risk.
- Assist with documenting business requirements, validating system enhancements, and supporting process changes through user acceptance testing and implementation activities.
- Support Lean, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve transaction quality and processing efficiency.
What You'll Need
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in banking operations, cash management, treasury operations, deposit operations, or related financial services functions, with exposure to payment processing, exceptions handling, and daily reconciliations.
- Ability to process incoming payments, remote or manual deposits, and resolve rejected or suspended transactions within defined timelines.
- Ability to perform daily reconciliations across cash services applications and funds movement (e.g., ACH, vendor deposits), investigate out-of-balance conditions, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Ability to adhere to internal controls, audit requirements, and compliance procedures while following and updating operating procedures.
- Ability to work within cash processing and reconciliation workflows, resolve transaction exceptions, and use spreadsheets for tracking, reporting, research, and variance analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities, analyze operational issues, and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, or customer experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to gather, organize, and analyze operational data to support process decisions, workload management, and performance improvement efforts.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
