As the Client Manager – Energy, you will be underwriting and managing a commercial banking portfolio that is specific to the upstream / midstream oil and gas sector. This role will have a secondary focus on selling deeper into customer relationships. This includes client-facing interaction, underwriting, managing approval processes and legal documentation, as it pertains to supporting a mid-to-large-size portfolio including complicated oil and gas, Reserve Based Loans. Goals will include fee/revenue growth, portfolio retention, portfolio growth, portfolio management / tracking, and making referrals to other verticals/segments of the bank.
How you’ll spend your time:
- You will partner with other officers to effectively administer the management of assigned commercial banking relationships.
- You will underwrite Oil & Gas, Reserve Based Loans – including engineering data input, financial data input, historical financial analysis, and comprehension/analysis of upstream/midstream oil and gas operations.
- You will maintain a portfolio by calling on existing customers to expand existing business, ensure excellent client relations & proper servicing of account(s), and ensure the portfolio's credit quality.
- You will provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint sales calls with other officers or direct correspondence with clients and perform various projects/tasks as needed.
- You will serve as a conduit for all product lines and match client needs with appropriate products. Proactively look for cross selling opportunities on bank products.
- You will navigate internal systems / databases to input / obtain / track portfolio information.
- Other duties as assigned.

- You possess a bachelor’s degree in business or Accounting / Finance / Economics / Mathematics or equivalent experience in a related field.
- You have 5+ years of commercial banking or lending experience including credit underwriting.
- You demonstrate advanced knowledge of credit and understanding of underwriting.
- You demonstrate solid financial acumen.
- You demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, etc.
- You demonstrate the ability to interpret policies/procedures, loan contracts, and understanding of credit reports, financial statements and loan documents.
- You demonstrate the ability to be self-starter and show initiative.
- You demonstrate professional communication skills (verbal & written).
- You demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- You demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively.
- You have the ability to prospect and network at various levels within a company.
- You demonstrate analytical skills.
Bonus points if:
- You possess 3+ years of oil and gas underwriting / analysis.
- You have exposure to oil and gas industry / underwriting.
- You have knowledge of bank products, services, and bank operations.

Will have responsibility for a mid to large-size portfolio including the most complex credits. Grow revenue as directed by senior management to meet established goals by successfully prospecting new opportunities with existing clients and making appropriate referrals.

Compensation Range:
$98,208 - $144,705The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and what it expects to be the starting pay for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
