Client Service Account Manager - Payments - Associate (all genders)

JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) · Other

This role supports Financial Institution clients across core payment rails and standards, including SEPA (SCT/SDD), TARGET2 / EURO1, SWIFT cross-border payments, and (depending on portfolio) USD wires (Fedwire/CHIPS). You will work with both legacy and ISO 20022 standards and message concepts (e.g., SWIFT MT as well as pacs.008 / pacs.009 / pacs.002 flows and acknowledgements).

As a Client Service Account Manager within our Payments team, you will be the “window” into JPMorganChase Payments for your clients and a key escalation point for day-to-day account and payment-related inquiries. You combine relationship management with hands-on problem solving: coordinating complex investigations, translating operational/technical topics into clear client communication, and driving service improvements over time. Please note: the first-round interview will be conducted in German.

Job responsibilities

  • Own the client experience across day-to-day Account and Payments servicing, developing a strong understanding of the client’s profile, operating model, and urgency drivers to anticipate needs.
  • Act as central point of contact for complex and time-sensitive payment topics across SEPA / TARGET2 / SWIFT , including status inquiries, investigations, repairs/rejects/returns, and amendment/cancellation requests; coordinate internal stakeholders to drive resolution and provide accurate, timely client updates.
  • Work confidently with ISO 20022 and payment message concepts, including interpreting common statuses and data elements (e.g., pacs messages and acknowledgements) and translating technology feedback.
  • Coordinate and/or execute account maintenance and setup-related tasks, such as account setup adjustments/changes, online channel access administration and authorized signer/mandate maintenance, in line with the firms governance and documentation requirements.
  • Lead regular Service Reviews (in person or remote), including preparation, agenda ownership, action tracking, and follow-through on jointly agreed actions.
  • Maintain an accurate “service temperature check” across your client portfolio, identify recurring issues (e.g., formatting drivers, cut-off impacts, scheme constraints), and drive remediation and education to improve client satisfaction.
  • Promote use of electronic tools and self-service capabilities to improve transparency and leverage efficiency.
  • Build strong internal partnerships with Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, Compliance/Sanctions, other lines of business, to identify/escalate potential risks associated.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Fluent German and English (spoken and written).
  • Client-facing experience in Payments / Transaction Banking / Cash Management (Client Service, Implementation, Operations-facing role, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of payment rails and flows such as SEPA, TARGET2/EURO1, and SWIFT cross-border payments (USD wires knowledge is a plus depending on portfolio).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 20022 concepts and familiarity with pacs message types (e.g., pacs.008/pacs.009/pacs.002) and/or SWIFT MT message flows.
  • Strong ownership and operational mindset: ability to manage multiple concurrent escalations, prioritize under pressure, and drive structured follow-up across internal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to provide clear, accurate client updates and stakeholder-ready summaries.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • French or Italian is a plus.
