Commercial Bank Associate (AVP) – Technology & High-Growth Sectornew

Citi (Citi) · Other

At Citi Commercial Bank (CCB), we partner with Australia's most innovative companies, ranging from venture-backed, high-growth scale-ups to large, established listed technology Corporates. We provide the global connectivity, deep sector expertise, and institutional-grade financial capabilities of one of the world's leading financial institutions. This is a high-velocity, fast-paced role dedicated to supporting a diverse and sophisticated technology portfolio.

Our coverage spans the entire tech ecosystem. We support dynamic, cutting-edge sub-sectors like SaaS, FinTech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digital Platforms, alongside traditional technology pillars such as Telecommunications, Semiconductors, and Hardware Infrastructure. Whether assisting a founder-led business scaling internationally or helping a large listed corporate optimize its global treasury operations, we deliver tailored financial solutions at every stage of the business lifecycle.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated banking professional seeking accelerated career development, exceptional client-facing exposure, and a front-row seat to the technology sector. You will be front-of-house, engaging directly with visionary founders, entrepreneurs, and corporate C-suite executives, while working hand-in-hand with our product partners across Treasury Solutions and Foreign Exchange. The successful candidate can expect to partner closely with our Corporate Advisory colleagues to deliver seamless strategic solutions, from pre-IPO financing, capital markets execution, and M&A.

Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, commercial agility, high resilience, and a genuine passion for technology and innovation. In return, you will work with sophisticated clients, contribute to milestone transactions, and leverage the full power of Citi's global platform.

As an AVP Associate in our Tech & High-Growth team, you will be highly client-facing, partnering closely with senior relationship managers and working cross-divisionally to manage and scale a fast-growing portfolio of listed and unlisted technology companies.

Key Responsibilities Include:

High-Touch Client & Founder Engagement: Actively participate in day-to-day client relations, establishing trusted-partner status with founders, CEOs, CFOs, and treasury teams across both high-growth startups and large public companies.

Cross-Franchise Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Citi’s Corporate Advisory, Capital Markets, and Product specialist teams to support clients through major corporate milestones, initial public offerings (IPOs), debt capital markets (DCM), equity capital markets (ECM), and strategic M&A.

Broad Tech Sector Coverage: Manage credit, lending, and operational banking needs for a diverse portfolio spanning dynamic verticals (SaaS, FinTech, AI, Cyber) and traditional technology sectors (IT Services, Telecoms, Hardware).

Strategic Growth Advisory: Support senior bankers in origination efforts, developing pitch presentations, and structuring complex corporate finance packages, including debt, growth capital, and syndicated facilities.

Financial & Metric Analysis: Conduct deep-dive credit and financial analysis. Evaluate high-growth tech business models using key sector metrics (ARR, unit economics, LTV/CAC, retention rates) alongside traditional corporate cash flow and balance sheet metrics.

Transaction Execution: Coordinate the end-to-end execution of cross-border lending, structured cash management, treasury, trade finance, and bespoke foreign exchange solutions.

Global Network Gateway: Act as the bridge to Citi’s global network in over 160 countries, helping Australian tech companies scale seamlessly into the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific markets.

Market Insight & Ecosystem Engagement: Stay ahead of technology trends, represent Citi at industry events, and build strong relationships within the local startup, venture capital, and listed corporate communities.
