Commercial Counsel
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Commercial team at Marsh. This role will be based in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
This 12-month fixed term contract offers the opportunity to provide commercial legal support across a range of business and regulatory matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across Marsh and Mercer Australia, helping to manage legal risk, support contract work and advise on compliance issues. The role will suit a lawyer who is comfortable working independently with support from senior lawyers in a global organisation.
We will count on you to:
Provide timely, practical and commercial legal advice across the Marsh and Mercer Australia businesses
Draft, review and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers and the insurance market
Review marketing materials for legal and regulatory compliance
Prepare and advise on industry-specific materials such as binding authorities, opinion letters, attestations, Authorised Representative agreements and distributor agreements
Analyse new and changing laws and regulations and advise on their impact
Identify legal exposure and recommend solutions to reduce risk to Marsh and Mercer
Manage external counsel and review the quality of their work
Support and develop junior team members
Liaise between the legal team and the broader corporate group
What you need to have:
Experience as a lawyer in commercial, corporate or insurance-related legal work
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Well-developed attention to detail, drafting skills and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
