Job summary

As a Commercial Finance Business Partner in German Digital Retail Banking, you will help translate growth ambitions into financial plans, models, and recommendations that inform day-to-day and strategic decisions. You will partner across teams to improve forecasting, profitability insight, and commercial performance, and you will communicate complex analysis clearly to senior stakeholders. Working in a dynamic environment, you will provide thoughtful challenge, highlight risks and opportunities, and help drive accountability through high-quality reporting and governance support.

Job responsibilities

  • Partner with key business workstreams, providing commercial insight and constructive challenge to support business objectives
  • Deliver core planning, forecasting, and performance analysis for the German retail banking business
  • Build and maintain financial models supporting business cases, portfolio growth, customer economics, and profitability analysis
  • Collaborate with strategy, product, marketing, treasury, and finance partners to support decision making with clear financial insight
  • Analyse business performance, customer behaviour, market trends, and financial drivers to identify risks and growth opportunities
  • Support initiatives to optimise pricing, product mix, marketing investment, and customer segmentation
  • Develop management reporting and dashboards that strengthen decision making and performance accountability
  • Prepare clear analysis, presentation materials, and commentary for senior management, business reviews, and governance forums
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions, model governance, and documentation requirements as needed
  • Lead selected ad hoc projects across planning and broader finance topics

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Degree-level education in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field
  • Experience in commercial finance, financial planning and analysis, banking, strategy finance, corporate finance, or financial services
  • Demonstrated ability to build financial models and explain key assumptions and drivers clearly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into insights
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clear materials for senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgement and business acumen, particularly in customer and product profitability analysis
  • Solid understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet, margins, and financial planning concepts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, using a structured and proactive approach
  • Fluency in English

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Professional qualification such as Chartered Financial Analyst, Master of Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Experience in digital banking or retail banking environments
  • Background in strategy consulting or advisory (including large professional services firms)
  • German language skills
