Job Description
As an Associate-Director in the Compliance department, you will be in charge of one of the Monitoring team. Reporting directly to the Head AML Transaction Monitoring- Vice-Director, you will be in charge of the supervision of the operational activities and the people management in accordance with your senior management.
Key responsibilities
Operations management:
- Lead and manage the Compliance Monitoring team, including task coordination, performance management, and professional development of team members;
- Oversee compliance and AML reviews of crypto currency transfers, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of higher-risk transactions;
- Oversee compliance and AML reviews of cash, securities and crypto currency transfers made by Financial Institutions, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of higher-risk transactions;
- Supervise the handling of sanctions alerts, providing escalation and final validation as needed;
- Supervise the investigation on potentially suspicious clients;
- Drive the optimization of internal procedures, including drafting, reviewing, and updating internal policies and guidelines;
- Represent Compliance in key regulatory and strategic projects, ensuring the monitoring function is embedded in business initiatives;
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and front-line teams, offering clear and pragmatic compliance guidance.
Team Management:
- Leading and supporting the Monitoring team:
- Fostering a positive work atmosphere where employees feel motivated, valued, and connected to the team and the organization;
- Promoting collaboration, trust, and cohesion among team members;
- Addressing any potential conflicts among team members to your senior management and/or HR Partner;
- Supporting employee growth through training, mentorship, coaching, and advancement opportunities.
- Hiring:
- Leading the recruitment process with your Talent Acquisition Partner;
- Ensuring new hires are properly introduced to the team, the organization, its culture, policies, and their specific roles.
- Performance Management: Setting performance expectations, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and addressing any performance issues.
- Conducting under performance process with the help of your Senior Management and HR Partner.
Qualifications
- University degree in Law, Economics, or a related field – a certification in Compliance Management is a strong asset;
- Significant experience (minimum 5–7 years) in a Compliance function within the financial industry, with proven leadership and team management skills;
- Fluent in English and French; German is a strong asset;
- Strong analytical mindset and structured, methodical approach;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills;
- Collaborative leader, comfortable working in a multicultural, dynamic, and tech-driven environment.
