The Compliance Manager will support the Chief Compliance Officer in the execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Compliance function, while also supporting Prudentials’ data privacy and personal information protection obligations under the Bermuda Personal Information Protection Act 2016 (PIPA). The role is responsible for implementing and operating effective compliance and data privacy processes across the business, with a strong focus on financial crime compliance (AML, ATF, APF, sanctions, fraud), regulatory adherence, monitoring, and reporting, alongside the embedding of robust data protection controls.The role holder will contribute to the development and operationalisation of a proportionate compliance and privacy framework that supports both reinsurance and high net worth insurance business lines. This includes supporting privacy governance, data protection risk management, incident and breach handling, and staff awareness, while working closely with Legal, Risk, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure regulatory and data protection requirements are effectively integrated into day‑to‑day operations. The Compliance Manager will play a key role in strengthening regulatory confidence, protecting confidential and personal information, and promoting a strong culture of compliance and accountability across Prudential Bermuda.
Key Accountabilities
Compliance Policies, Procedures and Processes
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of Prudential Bermuda’s compliance policies and procedures.
Compliance Monitoring, Testing and Reporting
Assist in executing compliance monitoring and testing activities to identify and mitigate risks.
Financial Crime Compliance (AML/ATF/APF, Sanctions, Fraud)
Support the operation of financial crime controls including CDD, screening, adverse media reviews, and transaction monitoring.
Regulatory Reporting and Liaison Support
Assist in preparing regulatory submissions and maintaining records for regulatory interactions.
Compliance Advisory Support
Provide day-to-day compliance guidance to internal stakeholders under the direction of the CCO.
Training and Awareness
Support the delivery and tracking of compliance training initiatives.
Data and Systems
Maintain compliance systems and data used for monitoring, screening, and reporting.
Requirements
- 6-8 years of experience in compliance, financial crime, risk, or related roles (insurance or financial services preferred).
- Basic knowledge of compliance requirements issued by the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other local authorities.
- Familiarity with AML/ATF/APF frameworks, sanctions, and compliance processes.
- Experience with CDD/EDD processes and compliance monitoring activities.
- Exposure to compliance systems (i.e. screening, adverse media review, transaction monitoring) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Working knowledge of the Bermuda Personal Information Protection Act 2016 (PIPA), including core privacy principles such as lawful use, purpose limitation, data minimisation, security safeguards, and individual rights.
- Ability to collaborate with Legal, IT, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to support data protection controls embedded within business processes and systems.
- Strong judgement and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive personal information, including client, employee, and HNW data
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and escalate issues appropriately.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Risk, Compliance, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop within the compliance function.
