Position Summary
The Compliance Officer, Caymans will be based in our New York City office and serve as the dedicated compliance manager for FalconX’s Cayman Islands operations. In this role, you will oversee regulatory adherence under the applicable Cayman Islands regulatory framework, including the Proceeds of Crime Act and Cayman Anti-Money Laundering Regulations (AMLRs).
You will bridge local entity governance with global compliance operations, managing local regulatory requirements, maintaining local compliance documentation, handling complex escalations, and supporting the new product approvals process for our lending, borrowing, and derivatives products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Management & Oversight
- Regulatory Oversight: Act as the internal subject matter expert for all regulatory requirements applicable to FalconX’s Cayman entities, including the the Proceeds of Crime Act and Cayman Anti-Money Laundering Regulations (AMLRs), Anti-Terrorism Act, and Proliferation Finance (Prohibition) Act
- Filings & Communications: Manage regulatory filings, notifications, and response drafting for regulatory inquiries
- New Product Evaluation & Compliance Product Management: Act as the subject matter expert for the Compliance team for new product assessments and requirements, as well as for the ongoing management of FalconX products offered from our Cayman entities, from a Compliance perspective
2. Cayman AML/CFT & Sanctions Execution
- Program Alignment: Ensure internal AML/CFT/CPF policies and monitoring tools align with Cayman Islands AMLRs and guidance notes.
- CDD/EDD Escalations: Handle escalated Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), PEP, and high-risk client reviews for entities onboarding into the Cayman structure.
- Travel Rule & Sanctions: Oversee compliance with sanctions regimes and digital asset Travel Rule obligations relevant to Cayman client flows.
3. Entity Governance & Cross-Border Reporting
- Board Engagement: Prepare comprehensive quarterly compliance and AML/CFT reporting materials for the Cayman Entity Board of Directors and global compliance leadership.
- Internal Advisory: Serve as an internal advisor to NYC-based Product, Trading, and Legal teams on product launches and client structures touching the Cayman jurisdiction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 5 –10 years of financial compliance, legal, or regulatory experience with dedicated exposure to derivatives products (commodities or securities based).
- Institutional Background: Experience working within a US-headquartered broker-dealer, crypto platform, asset manager, or law firm managing offshore Cayman structures.
- Crypto Knowledge: Solid understanding of institutional digital asset market structure, execution flows, and custody models.
- Certifications: ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent compliance credentials preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting regulatory responses and board-level presentations.
The base pay for this role is expected to be between $132,000 - $167,000 in the New York City Area. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, qualifications and the level at which the candidate is hired.
