As a Lead Data Architect, within the Corporate Technology, you provide expertise to develop and enhance the data architecture of multiple applications in their journey to modernize to cloud-based technologies, key deliverables include assessing current state and target state plans for consolidation to the strategic data lake, adoption of core data technologies for application development, and defining data standards across a portfolio of applications serving the Compliance, Oversight, and Governance.
Job responsibilities:
- Drive the Data Architecture principles and framework to enforce and strengthen the overall data environment for the portfolio of applications
- Own and evolve database standards, including database choice and sensible defaults in collaboration with application architects for the portfolio applications
- Drive adoption of the strategic lake by designing target state data architectures to reduce the presence of bespoke data applications holding large amounts of duplicate data
- Define data processing patterns and standards for data exchange between applications including streaming, API, and batch based interactions
- Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert for data architecture needs across 100+ applications
- Mentors and coaches junior architects and technologists regarding data practices, modeling, design, and storage
- Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 10+ years of related experience in data architecture roles; Experience with various data modeling techniques and tools related to data across both OLTP and OLAP patterns.
- Deep knowledge of data architecture, best practices, and industry trends for modern data needs
- Deep knowledge in one or more cloud based databases, such as Postgres or Cockroach DB, or data lake platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake
- Proven ability to set standards, and write Architecture Decision Records to set the north star vision, and evangelize across many application teams
- Deep knowledge and hands-on expertise and broad expertise in data technologies; i.e. data processing, data quality concepts, Business Intelligence and analytical tools, unstructured data, machine learning
- Experience with data governance frameworks, data catalogs, data vocabularies, and data classification needs
Cloud fundamentals, AWS (preferred) or other public cloud platforms
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with alternative data platforms such as graph databases or graph based data.
- Familiar with Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering
- Familiar with Finance and Banking products and related protection standards, such as GDPR or PCI
