As an intern with First Business Bank, you will gain valuable work experience in a professional environment, leveraging your prior experience, education, and involvement. Our interns play an essential role in the departments they are part of, working on important responsibilities, special projects, and networking with our teams.
Important Information – Internship Length, Hours, & Schedule: This internship will start June of 2027 and will be fully onsite at our Madison, WI location. Flexibility of working hours during the school year and requiring one day onsite per week, with a consistent minimum of 10 hours per week. It will run through the end of the school year for May 2028.
Internship Purpose: This position will provide an opportunity to work closely with the commercial lending team of a Madison based publicly traded commercial bank, including working with a team of credit analysts, commercial lenders and business development officers, and senior credit managers.
- Input financial statement data into company software and analyze to determine the credit worthiness of existing and prospective commercial clients.
- Prepare Cash Flow worksheets to demonstrate borrower’s ability to repay loans.
- Gain exposure to the commercial loan approval process by completing credit presentations and memos (which are used to approve new loans, renew existing loans, or report losses and/or covenant violations) for Loan Approval Committee.
- Develop a working knowledge of loan policy and gain the ability to communicate its interpretation and rationale to other bank employees.
- Input data, build tables and build borrower relationships into credit presentations.
- Work on other projects with department manager.
Requirements:
- Be pursuing a degree in Finance or Accounting or similar field
- Graduating May of 2028 required.
- Strong technology proficiency (strong skills in Excel a plus)
- Above average communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize work to meet numerous levels of deadlines
- Demonstrated drive, initiative, and work ethic
