Job Description
This role is responsible for managing the Investment Committee process and Data Governance program for the Real Estate Group. The role works across regions, sectors and functions and involves transaction review, application of internal governance requirements, resolution of complex data and process issues, and coordination with investment, legal, finance, operations and technology teams. The role also includes ongoing development of these programs, including the use of technology, AI, automation and analytics to improve efficiency and consistency. Strong judgment, an understanding of complex transactions and legal entity structures, and the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent matters are critical to the role.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Committee
Own the Investment Committee process from transaction submission through classification, routing, committee review, and follow-up
Review transactions and advise deal teams on the application of governance requirements and internal data and authority policies
Oversee the team responsible for initial transaction reviews, ensuring submissions are accurate, complete, and appropriately reviewed before committee consideration
Drive each committee review cycle, including agenda development, issue resolution, stakeholder coordination, and post-committee follow-up
Translate committee decisions and recurring issues into practical guidance, precedents, and training for investment and support teams globally
Data Governance
Own day-to-day operations of the data governance program, ensuring that transaction, investment, property, and other data is created and maintained in accordance with the firm’s data model
Resolve complex questions regarding the application of the data model to transactions, ownership structures, investment vehicles, and other business arrangements
Evaluate gaps or ambiguities in the data model and recommend changes to definitions, attributes, and governance standards as the business evolves
Serve as an escalation point for complex master-data matters, partnering with investment, legal, finance, technology, and operations teams to determine appropriate outcomes
Maintain a knowledge base of key decisions, interpretations, precedents, and complex scenarios
Technology, AI and Process Innovation
Identify opportunities to redesign and automate relevant legal, governance, and investment workflows using AI, automation, analytics, and other technology
Lead the evaluation and implementation of approved enhancements, working with business and technology teams to translate operational problems into scalable solutions
Analyze recurring governance and workflow issues and recommend changes to policies, processes, systems, and controls
Legal and Risk Advisory
Support enterprise risk management matters, including investment-related risk analysis, policy development, transaction negotiation on a limited basis, and other legal analysis, as needed
Review commercial contracts as needed
Provide targeted legal and regulatory support related to the governance programs and other global real estate matters, as needed
Qualifications
J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
Four or more years of legal experience in a leading law firm, investment firm, or comparable organization
Demonstrated experience supporting complex processes and coordinating stakeholders across legal, investment, operations, and technology functions
Experience with complex transactions, corporate and legal entity structures, and related documentation
Experience with private equity, M&A, real estate, funds, financing, or other complex transactional matters preferred
Strong judgment and the ability to interpret and apply policies to complex or novel circumstances
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographies, functions, and levels of seniority
Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple concurrent, deadline-driven workstreams
Strong interest in legal operations, data governance, and the application of AI or automation to business processes

Salary Range: $250,000 - $300, 000
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
