We are seeking an experienced Domain Architect to be a driving force within the CDTAO Architecture Domain. In this critical role, you will own the target-state architecture and roadmap for an assigned business or transversal domain, shape strategic initiatives from early design through delivery, and ensure alignment with SCOR enterprise architecture principles, standards and target architecture. Your expertise will help simplify the landscape, modernize legacy systems and enable secure, composable, data-centric and AI-ready solutions.
Key duties and responsibilities
Under the responsibility of the Head of Domain Architecture, the Domain Architect’s key activities are:
Domain Architecture:
Own and maintain the target-state architecture for the assigned domain, including business capabilities, applications, services, data flows and integration boundaries.
Translate business and technology strategy into actionable architecture roadmaps, transition states and investment options.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand objectives and shape comprehensive, scalable and maintainable solutions.
Engage early with Tech Leads, Delivery Leads, Product Owners, CTOs and Domain Heads to guide design choices and avoid late architecture rework.
Ensure that differentiated domain needs are addressed without unnecessary duplication or loss of enterprise coherence.
Architectural Expertise:
Advise senior management on strategic initiatives and guide business-critical architectural choices and modernization paths.
Lead cross-domain alignment on service boundaries, data ownership, integration contracts and shared capabilities.
Communicate technical concepts, options, trade-offs and impacts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Leadership:
Provide architectural leadership throughout the solution lifecycle and ensure that approved architecture is implemented as designed.
Guide integration across applications, services, data products, APIs and events, ensuring interoperability and controlled coupling.
Embed maintainability, security, resilience, observability, performance and scalability from the start.
Build & Maintain Architecture Assets:
Define and maintain domain blueprints, capability maps, application maps, C4 diagrams, integration views, data flows, roadmaps and Architecture Decision Records.
Define and promote architecture patterns, reference architectures, guardrails and reusable accelerators with the wider Architecture team.
Keep architecture information current in the agreed repositories, including LeanIX, CMDB, Confluence, Lucid and architecture backlogs.
Prepare and ensure validation of architecture documentation through Architecture Committee, Solution Design Authority and relevant design forums.
Architecture Office Advocate:
Participate in Architecture practice ceremonies, knowledge sharing, architecture committees and domain engagement sessions.
Operate in the two-hat model: work with the assigned domain day to day while contributing centrally to standards, coaching and design-authority decisions.
Build a network across business stakeholders, CDTAO domains, crews, engineering, data, security and operations.
Promote business-outcome-first, data-centric, composable, secure-by-design and guardrails-over-gatekeeping principles.
Required experience & competencies
10 years+ experience in solution implementation and/or architecture roles, for example as a software engineer, solution architect, domain architect, enterprise architect, technical lead or solution designer.
Strong track record in the design, architecture and/or implementation of complex IT systems within financial services, consultancy, systems integration or a comparable international organization.
Experience defining target architectures and pragmatic modernization roadmaps across complex application and data landscapes.
Ability to navigate a matricial and international environment and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, domain-driven design, APIs, event-driven integration, cloud-native platforms, data architecture, DevSecOps, observability and resilience.
Implementation experience in several coding languages, frameworks, different technology stacks, experience implementing cloud-based solutions on at least one of Azure, AWS & GCP. ·
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to estimate business, risk and financial impacts of architecture choices and orientations.
Fluent in English.
Behavioral & Management Skills :
Pronounced analytical and conceptual capabilities, coupled with the ability to present complex situations and trade-offs clearly.
Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and drive decisions.
Pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset with accountability for outcomes and architecture quality.
Capacity to collaborate across business and transversal domains while balancing local needs and enterprise optimization.
Required Education
Degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required
