WHO WE ARE:
As Singapore’s longest established bank, we have been dedicated to enabling individuals and businesses to achieve their aspirations since 1932. How? By taking the time to truly understand people. From there, we provide support, services, solutions, and career paths that meet their individual needs and desires.
Today, we’re on a journey of transformation. Leveraging technology and creativity to become a future-ready learning organisation. But for all that change, our strategic ambition is consistently clear and bold, which is to be Asia’s leading financial services partner for a sustainable future.
We invite you to build the bank of the future. Innovate the way we deliver financial services. Work in friendly, supportive teams. Build lasting value in your community. Help people grow their assets, business, and investments. Take your learning as far as you can. Or simply enjoy a vibrant, future-ready career.
Your Opportunity Starts Here.
About the Role
OCBC's Global Markets business prices, distributes, and risk-manages fixed income, rates, and FX-linked solutions for institutional and corporate clients across Asia. The Singapore Local Rates Trading desk sits within Global Markets and is responsible for market-making and risk-managing Singapore rates products — including SGS bonds, SORA-linked derivatives, and interest rate swaps — for clients.
We're hiring across the 0–3 year experience range: fresh graduates joining their first desk role, OCBC Graduate Talent Program alumni looking to move onto Rates specifically, and lateral hires bringing 1–3 years of relevant market experience. Scope and expectations are calibrated to what you bring — see Qualifications below.
Why Join Us
You'll get a rare kind of ownership on a desk this size: the tools and dashboards you build don't sit in a training exercise; they run the desk. Improve a process, and the whole team feels it — whether you're three months in or three years in. OCBC is investing heavily in becoming a more AI-driven, data-led organization, and the instincts you bring — automating the boring stuff, questioning how work gets done — aren't a side interest here. They're exactly what the desk
needs more of. If you're already at OCBC and started out through the Graduate Talent Program, this is also a direct path onto a specialist trading desk without leaving the bank.
What You'll Do
Support pricing, risk monitoring, and trade execution across SGS, SORA-linked derivatives, and interest rate swaps — with the scope of direct execution responsibility scaling with your experience.
Build and maintain the data views, dashboards, and reports the desk uses to make decisions — and look for ways to automate the repetitive parts of that work.
Help translate client flow and market activity into insight the desk can act on
Take ownership of small tools or process improvements that make the whole desk more effective, not just your own workload.
Apply the discipline of risk management day-to-day: position limits, escalation, and why protecting the bank always comes before making money.
Contribute in a desk culture where covering for a teammate, sharing what you've learned, and flagging a mistake early all matter as much as your own trade ideas.
How You Succeed
You bring curiosity and humility to every trade, every mistake, and every piece of feedback.
You ask how AI or automation could handle the repetitive part of a task before spending hours doing it manually.
You treat risk limits as boundaries you respect, not lines you test.
You'd rather cover a teammate's blind spot than protect your own numbers.
You learn the market by being genuinely curious about it, not because someone told you to.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
You understand the products, the risk framework, and your limits well enough that senior traders trust you with real responsibility.
You've built or improved at least one tool, report, or workflow that the desk still uses.
You ask "can AI or automation do this faster?" before doing repetitive work manually.
You've never had to be told twice about a risk or process rule.
Teammates would say you make the desk better, not just your own numbers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field — Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance.
0–3 years of relevant experience: fresh graduates, OCBC Graduate Talent Program alumni, and lateral hires from another desk or institution are all welcome to apply.
Excellence in and hands-on experience with data science — through coursework, personal projects, research, hackathons, or internships; comfortable with Excel and at least one of Python or SQL.
For candidates with 1–3 years' experience: a demonstrated track record in rates, fixed income, or a closely related trading, structuring, or quantitative role, with working product knowledge of SGS, SORA-linked derivatives, or interest rate swaps.
Genuine interest in fixed income markets and macroeconomics — you follow rates markets because you want to, not because a JD told you to.
Curious mindset with a passion for continuous learning and experimentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior exposure to Bloomberg, data visualization tools, or basic programming for data work.
Internship, prior desk experience, or coursework touching fixed income, trading, or quantitative finance.
Familiarity with AI tools (Copilot) as part of your normal workflow, not just something you've heard of.
What we offer:
Competitive base salary. A suite of holistic, flexible benefits to suit every lifestyle. Community initiatives. Industry-leading learning and professional development opportunities. Your wellbeing, growth and aspirations are every bit as cared for as the needs of our customers.
