Your Team's Impact 
The Senior SharePoint Engineer serves as the primary technical owner of the organization’s SharePoint Online environment within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This individual is responsible for the architecture, administration, development, and continuous improvement of the SharePoint Online platform to support enterprise collaboration, document management, and knowledge-sharing objectives. The role requires a high degree of technical proficiency, sound judgment in platform governance, and the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and end users.

What You'll Do
The Senior SharePoint Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Platform Ownership and Administration

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact and subject matter expert for the SharePoint Online platform.

  • Administer and maintain the SharePoint Online tenant, including site collections, hub sites, content types, managed metadata, and permissions structures.•

  • Ensure platform health through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and performance management.

  • Manage tenant-level configuration settings and enforce governance policies in accordance with organizational standards.

  • Coordinate with Microsoft support and track Microsoft 365 roadmap changes that may affect the platform.

Development and Customization

  • Design and develop custom SharePoint solutions using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx), TypeScript, React, and the Microsoft Graph API.

  • Build and maintain web parts, extensions, and application customizers to meet documented business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain automation workflows utilizing Power Automate in conjunction with SharePoint Online.

  • Author and maintain PowerShell scripts (PnP PowerShell, Microsoft.Graph) to support administrative automation, bulk operations, and reporting.

  • Maintain source code repositories and adhere to established version control standards using Azure DevOps or GitHub.

Architecture and Governance

  • Design and implement SharePoint Online information architecture, including site taxonomy, navigation structures, and metadata frameworks.

  • Establish and maintain platform governance documentation, including policies for site provisioning, naming conventions, storage thresholds, and lifecycle management.

  • Define and enforce security models, including role-based access controls, sharing policies, and sensitivity label configurations in alignment with the organization’s data classification framework.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements, leveraging Microsoft Purview and related M365 compliance tooling as appropriate.

​  Stakeholder Engagement and Support

  • Partner with business units to assess collaboration and document management needs, translating requirements into scalable SharePoint solutions.

  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for SharePoint Online-related incidents, service requests, and escalations.

  • Develop end-user and administrator documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles to support platform adoption.

  • Participate in project planning, requirements gathering, and solution design sessions as a technical advisor.

Integration and Ecosystem

  • Manage and maintain integrations between SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, Exchange Online, and Viva Connections.

  • Evaluate and implement third-party solutions or add-ins where organizational requirements cannot be met by native platform capabilities.

  • Collaborate with the broader IT team on M365 initiatives that intersect with the SharePoint Online platform.

What We're Looking For 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive, hands-on experience in SharePoint development and administration, with a minimum of three (3) years focused on SharePoint Online within a Microsoft 365 environment.

  • Demonstrated experience architecting and administering enterprise SharePoint Online environments supporting a significant user base.

  • Proven track record delivering custom SharePoint solutions using SPFx, TypeScript, and React.

  • Proficiency in SharePoint Framework (SPFx), TypeScript, JavaScript, and React for front-end development.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph API and REST-based integration patterns.

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerShell, including PnP PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK.

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), including identity and access management as it relates to SharePoint Online.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview compliance features, including sensitivity labels, retention policies, and DLP configurations.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub for source control, CI/CD pipeline management, and release automation.

  • Strong understanding of SharePoint Online information architecture, content management, and governance principles.

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate (MS-600 or successor certification).

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert or equivalent certification.

  • Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Viva suite components, including Viva Connections and Viva Engage.

  • Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, or other serverless integration patterns within the M365 ecosystem.

  • Prior experience leading or participating in migrations from SharePoint Server (on-premises) to SharePoint Online.

  • Technical expertise: Demonstrates deep knowledge of the Microsoft 365 platform and applies that knowledge to delive reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions.

  • Analytical thinking: Applies structured problem-solving to diagnose platform issues and evaluate solution options against technical and business constraints.

  • Communication: Communicates technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, including written documentation and verbal presentations.

  • Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and ensures work is completed accurately and on schedule.

  • Collaboration: Works effectively across functional teams to achieve shared objectives and contributes constructively in cross-functional settings.

  • Continuous improvement: Stays current with Microsoft 365 platform developments and proactively identifies opportunities to improve platform capability, efficiency, or user experience.


This position operates primarily in an office or hybrid work environment. The employee may be required to participate in on-call rotation for critical platform incidents. Occasional off-hours maintenance windows may be necessary to support platform upgrades or significant configuration changes with minimal business disruption.
