Technology Hardware and Semiconductors sit at the center of global innovation and supply chains. This role offers the opportunity to lead coverage in a fast-moving sector where technology transitions and industry cycles create constant debate. You will shape investment views through rigorous analysis, clear writing, and direct engagement with companies and clients. You will work in a collaborative, high-performance research environment with meaningful client interaction and leadership responsibility.

As an Equity Research Associate or Vice President in the Technology (Semiconductors / Tech Hardware) team, you will lead industry and company coverage across the semiconductor value chain and own the end-to-end research agenda for your coverage universe. You will be based in Taiwan and take primary responsibility for producing timely, high-quality research, forming differentiated views, and engaging directly with internal and external clients.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead core research in a sub-set of Tech hardware/ semiconductor companies by dissecting earnings releases, company disclosures, and relevant news flow for semiconductor companies
  • Own and maintain the financial and operating models for covered names; perform valuation work and scenario analysis
  • Set the coverage agenda by identifying key debates, catalysts, and risks; update investment views as facts change
  • Produce high-impact research notes, earnings updates, sector pieces, and contribute to comprehensive research reports and thematic publications
  • Analyze industry dynamics, including supply and demand, pricing, inventory, utilization, capital spending, and technology roadmaps
  • Build and maintain relationships with company management teams, investor relations, and industry contacts through ongoing engagement and diligence
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external clients on sector and company developments, including fulfilling requests for market updates and intelligence
  • Collaborate with partners in Sales and Trading to support coordinated client coverage and idea generation
  • Drive data collection and analysis to support conclusions and strengthen written outputs
  • Lead execution standards across the day-to-day workflow, including reviewing work and mentoring junior team members

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with strong academic performance in accounting, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field
  • 4-5 years of experience in equity research, investing, corporate finance, or relevant technology or semiconductor analysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting, financial analysis, and quantitative reasoning
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, including building and maintaining complex models
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, client-ready research under tight deadlines
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop and communicate investment views and manage a coverage universe end-to-end
  • Knowledge of tech hardware / semiconductor industry structure and key business drivers 
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to engage with company management teams and travel as needed for diligence and meetings

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Progress toward or completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Prior direct coverage of semiconductors or adjacent technology hardware sectors with demonstrated thought leadership
  • Experience leading initiation reports and thematic publications
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a network of industry contacts through primary research
  • Strong track record of client engagement and commercial impact through research content
  • People leadership experience, including coaching and quality review of junior team members
  • Familiarity with data tools that improve research workflows (for example, Python, SQL, or similar)
