Experienced Auditor (Federal Single Audit/US Government)

We are looking for Experienced Audit Professionals with demonstrated experience in US governmental auditing, particularly federal Single Audits, and financial statement audits to support a US client engagement.

The ideal professional will have hands-on experience interpreting US federal compliance requirements and performing the related audit testing procedures. Experience conducting governmental financial statement audits, together with a strong understanding of GASB standards and US governmental accounting principles, would be a significant advantage.

Important: This role requires direct experience with US government auditing standards and requirements. Experience limited to South African, Zimbabwean, or other non-US governmental audit frameworks will not meet this requirement.

Contract type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Contract Duration: 4 - 6 months
Additional experience: US federal Single Audits, US governmental financial statement audits, and compliance testing.
Technical knowledge: US GAAP, GASB standards, Uniform Guidance, and applicable federal compliance requirements

We are looking for Experienced Audit professionals with the following minimum requirements & qualifications: 

SIC Minimum requirements: 

• ITC/Board 1 Pass - Non-negotiable 
• Fully Qualified ACA / ACCA / CPA 
• 5+ years of Public Accounting audit experience 
• 2+ years of experience leading teams and managing audits, end to end. 
• Planning the budget and resources for audits. 
• Proven track record in reviewing and signing off on work papers. 

Manager Minimum requirements: 

• Fully Qualified CA(SA) / CA(Z) / ACA / ACCA / CPA 
• 6+ years of Public Accounting audit experience 
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in leading teams and managing audits. 
• Supervision of the engagement team, tasks and budget. 
• Project management of audits from planning to completion, including review and sign-off on key audit sections

Key Responsibilities

SIC: 

Provides timely, high-quality deliverables covering complex sections while overseeing fieldwork, coordinating deliverables from multiple team members. Demonstrates a depth of knowledge of systems, methodology and can educate and redirect team members. Leads the team through the engagement and prepares financial statements, related disclosures, and reportable conditions letters, focusing on quality and accuracy. Actively monitors productivity, budgets and ensures adherence to work plan schedule.   

Manager: 

Provides timely, high-quality client service, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating all client deliverables.  Understands skill sets and capabilities of team members, monitors and reviews work produced to ensure quality and skill development.  Capable of managing larger, more complex engagement teams, ensures client satisfaction and team morale. Proactively and confidently communicates with all levels at the Firm and client.  

Note:  

• Should you be successful in your application, you are expected to have access to the internet, and to ensure that the internet connection is uninterrupted and always accessible. This should be, at minimum, a fibre connection with a proven bandwidth of 50mbps upload and 50Mbps download speed, with a latency of no more than 30ms. This connection should be sustainable in the event of power interruptions.  

• Audit experience and alignment to a specific level within SAPRO, shall be determined based on your individual audit exposure, technical interview and evaluation.  

• Generally, we work on a 4 hour overlap with the host firm, however this is client dependent.
