Lead on complex accounting matters, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of new standards while shaping budgets and future financial strategy. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Ensures integrity of assigned legal entities’ numbers reported to Group on a monthly basis through an appropriate Quality Assurance process including collaboration with the regional Transactional Accounting and FP&A functions, as well as Half-Year and Year-End disclosure reporting packs.

  • Budgeting and forecasting as well as monitoring Actual vs Budgeting and/or Forecasting variances and investigating material variances.

  • Ensures all management reports, statutory accounts and regulatory reports for the South African business are accurate and filed in a timely manner. 

  • Prepares clear and robust analysis of the correct accounting treatment for any judgmental accounting positions or complex ad-hoc transactions; documents established positions in accounting papers.

  • Manages internal and external audits and the respective auditor relationships efficiently.

  • Contributes to local, regional and group-wide ad hoc projects including continuous improvements, group initiatives and participation in transformation activity where required.

  • Where applicable, provides input to local Board reporting and ensures legal entity capital and liquidity requirements are met

 

What you will bring to this role

 

You will bring strong technical accounting expertise, commercial insight, and a proven ability to deliver accurate financial reporting in a complex, regulated environment. You combine analytical thinking with a proactive approach to risk management, compliance, budgeting, and financial performance improvement. As a collaborative leader, you will build trusted stakeholder relationships, coach team members, and drive continuous improvement across finance processes and controls.

 

Other key requirements 

 

  • A qualified Chartered Accountancy, CA(SA), with at least 2 years post articles experience in a professional services environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage small teams and coach junior team members.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.) with advanced expertise in MS Excel (lookups, pivot tables)

  • Experience with Oracle ERP system preferred

  • Understands month end and other finance reporting processes, accountabilities and hand-offs.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards where applicable and the regulatory reporting requirements for the region in which they will operate.

  • Experience of developing robust risk management framework to ensure all risks are fully understood and all relevant controls are working effectively.

  • Experience of managing and resolving financial and compliance issues and managing audits
