Job Summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst, Middle Office to join our Financial Markets Operations team in Frankfurt.

This is a dynamic role at the intersection of Trading, Sales, Operations, and Technology, providing end-to-end support across a broad range of Financial Markets products. You will act as a key partner to Front Office stakeholders, ensuring seamless post-trade execution, managing operational risk, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic business initiatives.

The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to FX, Rates, Options, ETD, and OTC products, while working in a highly collaborative global environment with local and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities

Front Office Partnership

  • Serve as the primary Operations contact for local Trading and Sales desks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing operational expertise and post-trade support.
  • Support new product launches, business initiatives, and strategic Financial Markets projects.
  • Build strong relationships across Front Office, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Control functions.

Trade Lifecycle & Operational Excellence

  • Manage post-trade activities across the full trade lifecycle.
  • Investigate and resolve trade and client queries with timely escalation where required.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of transactions to minimize operational risk.
  • Monitor KPIs and service levels to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Process Improvement & Transformation

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operating models.
  • Partner with Technology teams to drive automation and transformation initiatives.
  • Work closely with Financial Markets stakeholders to enhance booking models and operational efficiency.
  • Promote global consistency and standardization across regions and service hubs.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build strong partnerships with global hub teams and regional stakeholders.
  • Support clients by resolving day-to-day operational issues while understanding their evolving needs.
  • Deliver training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing to strengthen operational capabilities across teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across global locations.

Risk, Control & Regulatory Support

  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure audit actions are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current and upcoming regulatory requirements impacting Financial Markets Operations.
  • Champion a strong risk and control culture and adherence to operational governance standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Solid experience within Middle Office, Operations, Trade Support, or Financial Markets Operations.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Markets products, including:
    • FX
    • Rates
    • Options
    • Exchange-Traded Derivatives (ETD)
    • OTC Derivatives
  • Good knowledge of the end-to-end trade lifecycle.
  • Experience managing complex operational issues and stakeholder interactions.
  • Track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in an international or matrix organization is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • University degree preferred.
  • Relevant Financial Markets or Operations certifications are beneficial.
  • Proficiency in German is strongly preferred and would be advantageous for success in the role; however, candidates without German language skills are also invited to apply.
