Control Management
Control Managers are responsible for having a deep understanding of the business, its underlying processes and the compliance and operational risk and control environment. Subject matter expertise/innovative tools and technology.
Control Management maintains a strong and consistent control environment across the firm. With Control Managers appointed for each Line of Business, Function and Region, there is a comprehensive coverage and joint accountability model with the business executive that promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk.
Controls Room
The Controls Room Team within Control Management works collaboratively with other control disciplines and oversees existing control functions as well as the development of new control frameworks, protocols, and tooling solutions. The team’s objective is to empower the three lines of defense with risk-based information to manage their control environment. This is achieved by collecting, analyzing and monitoring firmwide risk-based intelligence into all lines of business and corporate functions.
The Controls Room gathers information from key business and technology partners in order to:
• Facilitate better decision making and actionable insights across the Firm.
• Create cost-effective and automated reporting; and
• Provide views into risk and issues.
The Quant Modeling team is an integral part of the Controls Management group and is dedicated to design and build agentic systems that strengthen control monitoring, analytics, and decision support. Our mission is to work across agent architecture, workflow orchestration, tool and data integration, and the design of agent reasoning patterns to enable natural, multi-step problem solving.
Job Responsibilities
• Design and build agentic control systems: Design and implement multi-agent dynamic systems that support multi-turn reasoning, tool use, and dynamic decision-making for control management problems.
• Tooling and data integration: Develop, design, and integrate the tools and data connections agents use to retrieve information, validate data, and take action.
• Orchestration ownership: Build and maintain orchestration logic for agent routing, state management, and workflow coordination across agent workflows.
• LLM behavior shaping: Work with LLMs and prompt design to shape agent behavior, reasoning patterns, and response quality.
• Agent architecture decisions: Contribute to and lead architecture and design decisions including agent decomposition, memory management, and multi-agent coordination.
• Cross-functional delivery partnership: Partner with data, product, and engineering teams to translate business problems into practical agentic solutions for Controls Room.
• Validation, testing, and evaluation: Implement validation, testing, and evaluation frameworks for agent performance, accuracy, and reliability.
• Observability and monitoring: Support observability and monitoring for agent systems, including reasoning traces, tool calls, and decision auditing.
• Reusable patterns and templates: Help build reusable agent templates, patterns, and tooling that accelerate delivery across use cases.
• Documentation: Document agent design, assumptions, tool specifications, and operational procedures for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Governance and safeguards: Support governance and control requirements by implementing traceability, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and appropriate safeguards into agent workflows.
• People management (aligned to delivery above): Lead and develop a team delivering these agentic systems—setting priorities, coordinating work across agents/tools/orchestration streams, providing technical guidance and review, and ensuring consistent quality, reliability, and documentation standards.
• Stay current on tools and evaluation practices: Keep up with emerging tools and technologies, and evolve data evaluation strategies to reflect current best practices.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field
• 15+ years building production (or near-production) software, data, or backend systems
• Strong Python (debugging, testing, maintainable code)
• Solid fundamentals in LLMs/transformers; clear understanding of capabilities and limitations
• Hands-on experience with at least one LLM agentic framework/library
• Experience integrating tools/APIs/data services into software or ML systems
• Experience building multi-step workflows (state machines/orchestration logic)
• Prompt engineering experience (templates, instruction design to shape behavior)
• Familiar with production monitoring, logging, and operational support
• Strong independent problem-solving within scope; effective cross-functional collaborator
• Clear communicator to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Production/enterprise experience building or deploying agentic systems
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and grounding strategies for LLMs
• Experience with async execution (event-driven workflows, async coordination patterns)
• Experience implementing agent memory, context management, and multi-turn conversation patterns
• Familiarity with responsible AI, model governance, and human-in-the-loop review patterns
• Experience with observability and tracing for agent behavior/reasoning
• Experience in risk, controls, compliance, or other highly governed environments
