Skills and Competencies

  • Strong foundation in machine learning, computer vision, and numerical methods
  • Experience with CNN-based architectures and modern vision models

  • Solid understanding of remote sensing techniques, including: 

  • Image classification and segmentation

  • Change detection and decorrelation

  • Processing of hyperspectral and multispectral imagery

  • Proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in: Machine Learning frameworks (Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, GluonCV, Image processing & geospatial libraries: OpenCV, GDAL, GeoPandas, Rasterio)

  • Familiarity with GIS tools: ESRI suite, QGIS, GRASS

  • Exposure to Google Earth Engine is a plus

Education 
Pursuing post-graduation (Masters/PhD) in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, Computer Science or Graduate in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science from an institute of good repute

Responsibilities

The Geospatial team at Moody’s is developing advanced AI/ML capabilities, including Large Vision Models (LVMs) and Generative/Agentic AI, to extract insights from large-scale satellite and aerial imagery. These capabilities enable scalable analysis of remote sensing data, supporting accurate detection of objects, patterns, and temporal changes, Key initiatives include:

  • Global Property Project: building high-resolution global datasets of building stock

  • Global Renewable Energy Project: mapping solar and wind assets worldwide

As an AI/ML Intern, you will contribute to these high-impact programmes by:

  • Developing and applying vision models to geospatial challenges

  • Working on tasks such as: Image enhancement (denoising, super-resolution), building footprint extraction, renewable asset detection, multi-temporal change detection

  • Supporting the integration of LVMs and generative AI into production workflows

This role offers hands-on experience with scalable, production-grade AI systems while contributing to global geospatial intelligence solutions.

Our Geospatial Team (Model Development Group) is responsible for developing critical geospatial datasets, exposure intelligence, and modeling components thatunderpinMoody’sindustry-leadingcatastropherisksolutionsusedbymorethan400clientsworldwide. By joining our team, you will be part of exciting work in developing geospatial datasets for catastrophe models, advancing AI-powered geospatial analytics, and delivering innovative solutions in renewable energy intelligence, event response, and damage assessment to support global risk insights and decision-making.
