About this role
Your team

Your role and impact
Based in Tokyo, this role will lead integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives supporting the strategic priorities of the Wealth and Institutional businesses in Japan.
You will work closely with local and regional marketing teams, Corporate Communications, client business teams, product teams, and other partners to shape the marketing direction and translate business priorities into effective campaigns. By combining creative thinking, strong execution, and performance analysis, you will help enhance client engagement, strengthen our brand, and improve the commercial impact of our marketing activities.
Your responsibilities
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
- Lead Japan's Commercial Marketing strategy across Wealth and Institutional, translating business, client and product priorities into integrated marketing plans that support sustainable growth and the firm's financial objectives.
- Own the marketing commercialization strategy for priority investment capabilities and product launches, partnering with Client Business and product teams to define target audiences, positioning, go-to-market plans and activation across the client journey.
- Develop differentiated strategies for priority client segments and distribution channels, including institutional investors, wealth distributors, digital platforms and self-directed individual investors.
- Develop integrated campaigns across paid, owned and partner channels, leading content strategy, messaging, campaign materials and activation plans that build awareness, consideration and client engagement.
- Partner closely with regional teams across Content, Digital, Events and Brand as well as investment teams, product strategists, Client Business, Corporate Communications and Compliance, to bring the firm's capabilities to market in a locally relevant way.
- Partner with Digital Marketing to build connected client journeys, using audience and engagement insights to improve how clients discover, understand, consider and engage with BlackRock's investment capabilities.
- Establish clear measurement frameworks across brand, engagement and commercial outcomes, using insights to optimize marketing investment and continually improve effectiveness.
- Own and prioritize the Commercial Marketing budget, allocating resources against the highest-impact business priorities and managing agency and vendor relationships as appropriate.
- Provide leadership across the Commercial Marketing agenda, setting priorities, raising execution standards and developing the team's capabilities while effectively navigating a complex local, regional and global organization.
- Ensure all activity meets BlackRock's marketing standards, governance, controls and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and addressing risk.
Your experience
- 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services, preferably within asset management, banking, wealth management or insurance sector.
- Deep commercial awareness and client acumen, with a strong understanding of the investment management industry, including investment trusts, ETFs and alternatives, client segments, and the competitive landscape.
- Proven track record in commercial, channel or product marketing, including developing go-to-market strategies and driving adoption through intermediary and or self-directed investors channels.
- Experience across modern digital marketing, audience segmentation and client journeys, with the ability to use data and insights to optimise engagement and commercial outcomes.
- Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to distil complex business challenges, set priorities and translate insights into practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and mobilize local, regional and global teams in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience managing and prioritizing marketing investment, with the ability to allocate resources against the highest-value commercial opportunities and demonstrate impact.
- Excellent execution and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to a consistently high standard in an evolving environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English, including the ability to develop, edit and refine compelling marketing content.
