Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a Internal Sales Director who will serve as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor to financial advisors and internal stakeholders. In this role, your primary responsibility is to analyze advisor needs, provide tailored guidance, and influence outcomes through consultative engagement. As a result, you will own and manage a full sales cycle within a defined territory in order to promote Vestwell’s growth in the financial advisor marketplace.

You will partner closely with Regional Vice Presidents, Marketing, Product, Operations, and Partner Success teams to support advisor relationships, optimize processes, and ensure that Vestwell’s offerings align with client objectives. This position requires independent judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations that strengthen advisor partnerships and drive long-term growth.

What Will You Be Doing?

You will be the primary driver for converting both organic and sourced leads into plan sales within your assigned region. Beyond this baseline, you will be expected to:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to financial advisors, providing guidance on plan design, fiduciary considerations, and platform capabilities.
  • Conduct needs assessments and strategic discussions to align Vestwell’s solutions with client and advisor objectives.
  • Consulting with prospects about possible plan features or plan types that may align with their workforce and assessing whether a standalone plan or aggregated plan would work best for the prospect's demographics and business goals.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable regional relationships, supporting long-term engagement and partnership success.
  • Initiate and own a consistent lead prospecting practice, managing lead-to-contact conversion and strategically prioritizing opportunities to maximize pipeline growth.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial advisor prospects to create repeatable regional partnerships and long-term engagement.
  • Manage a robust pipeline of advisor opportunities, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting while applying discretion and judgment to guide prioritization.
  • Convert plan opportunities into closed-won sales through a repeatable, scalable process, applying the MEDDPICC sales methodology with discretion and judgment.
  • Own accountability for achieving KPIs month-over-month, including meeting quota, conversion targets, and other performance metrics.
    Collaborate strategically with Regional Vice Presidents to support repeat advisors, small market solutions, and other territory-specific initiatives.
  • Provide proactive support to the regional RVP on prospecting, opportunity prioritization, and strategic sales initiatives.

Requirements

The Necessities

  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing, consultative role within Financial Services, FinTech, payroll, or a similar industry.
  • Proven ability to manage complex relationships and provide strategic guidance throughout multi-step business processes.
  • Ability to carry a plan sale over the entire sales cycle from prospecting to conversion
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales goals (Rep of the year, Quota club, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating a top-notch selling environment and process.
  • A hunter with a proven track record of forecasting, and executing new sales through a repeatable and scalable sales process and pipeline.
  • Self-starter who can operate well in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Good knowledge of Salesforce, comfort level with other Sales technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks, adapt to changing needs, and tackle new challenges daily!

This role will be based in either the New York City or Austin office, and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation.

The expected base salary range for this position is $70K - $80K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.

Interview Process
Our interview process starts the same for every candidate with 1-2 introductory conversations to learn more about your background, interests, and what you're looking for, while also giving you the opportunity to learn more about Vestwell and the team. From there, the process varies by role but typically includes a skills or experience-based assessment, such as a coding interview, portfolio review, or deeper discussion of your relevant experience. Successful candidates then move on to a virtual or in-person interview panel. Before extending an offer, we complete a reference check with a current or former manager and a peer. Throughout the process, we prioritize transparency, clear communication, and minimizing surprises.
