About Small Cap Investment Banking
Founded in 2026, the Small Cap Investment Banking team focuses on companies valued between $100 to $500 million in enterprise value. Initially, the team will concentrate on M&A opportunities in the business services, consumer and retail, and diversified industries verticals. Analysts will work in New York and support a broader team of bankers across New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta.
Job Summary
As an Analyst in the Small Cap Investment Banking team in the Investment Banking Division, you will be a key player in the execution of the firm's business. You will work with expert professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank. Senior bankers will get to know you - both as a person and as a valued member of a winning team. You will use your related experience to contribute to the firm's M&A execution and capital raising capabilities while helping build J.P. Morgan's franchise and reputation in the marketplace.
You will develop strong functional skills in the major areas of investment banking and over time become a senior client executive who is capable of generating and executing your own transactions. Job Responsibilities
- Execute transactions: support due diligence, document preparation, negotiation etc and liaising with relevant counterparts at the client/other advisers (accounting, legal, etc).
- Working with J.P. Morgan product and sector teams.
- Building and using complex financial models, completing valuation and analytical exercises.
- Drafting presentation materials, management presentations, Board materials, Memorandums, and other presentation materials for use in M&A and capital markets transactions or strategic client dialogue.
- Keeping abreast of key market developments and establishing knowledge of the target client base and relevant market dynamics.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 1-3 years work experience in an investment banking front office, or related, role with a focus on M&A.
- Strong accounting, finance, quantitative and business writing skills.
- Bachelors' degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Understanding of the transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution-oriented.
- Demonstrate capacity to work independently on challenging tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Impeccable communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business.
