We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investment Banking Associate to join our dynamic Small Cap Investment Banking team, offering an exceptional opportunity to contribute to high-impact M&A transactions and drive growth within a leading financial institution. 

About Small Cap Investment Banking

Founded in 2026, the Small Cap Investment Banking team focuses on companies valued between $100 to $500 million in enterprise value. Initially, the team will concentrate on M&A opportunities in the business services, consumer and retail, and diversified industries verticals. Associates will work in New York and support a broader team of bankers across New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta.

Job Summary 

As an Associate in our Small Cap Investment Banking group, you will be a key player in our business strategy and execution. You will participate in the "full cycle" of transactional execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations. You will play a leadership role in implementing the execution function including working with Analysts and other Associates, as well as assisting more senior bankers. 

You will learn strong functional skills through J.P. Morgan’s best-in-class training program, develop in the major areas of investment banking and, over time, become a senior client executive who is capable of generating and executing your own transactions. Working with a broader team of Analysts and Associates in the region, you will be provided opportunities to be involved real-time in transactions that may include frequent travel. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Develop content for strategic meetings with clients regarding M&A or capital market transactions. 
  • Interact with senior team members and client management teams on a daily basis to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives. 
  • Defining, guiding and reviewing detailed valuation analysis, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables and LBO analyses. 
  • Defining, guiding and reviewing detailed combination and other financial analyses during pitches and M&A transactions.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to Analysts.



Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • 3-5 years of work experience in an investment banking front office, or related, role with a focus on M&A.
  • Bachelors' degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field. 
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Understanding of the transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented.
  • Impeccable communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
