Job Summary

The Senior CMO (Cash Management Operations) Officer plays a pivotal role within Standard Chartered’s Cash Management Operations team, ensuring the smooth delivery, governance, and continuous enhancement of cash management solutions. This role demands a detail-oriented and proactive individual committed to operational excellence, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will work in a dynamic environment that blends strategic operational oversight with hands-on process management. Your efforts will directly impact client satisfaction and the bank’s reputation for reliability and innovation in cash management services.
You will engage collaboratively with multiple teams across regions and departments, playing a vital role in ensuring the bank’s cash management offerings are compliant, effective, and aligned with broader corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and mitigating operational risks within the Bank's Cash Management Operations (CMO) in line with Group standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring robust control environment.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing governance of the Bank's CMO product suite, aligning closely with the Corporate & Institutional Banking and Commercial Banking strategic cash management initiatives.
  • Provide operational expertise and assistance during crisis management scenarios, including business disruptions and contingency activations, facilitating seamless continuation of services.
  • Play a proactive role in Business Continuity Management by contributing to the development, maintenance, and testing of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to ensure regulatory compliance and operational resilience.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively between CMO South and GBS India teams to ensure accurate, timely processing and reconciliation of payment instructions, while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor and manage processing queues and generate end-of-day reports to verify all client transactions are completed within the expected service levels and timelines.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Bank’s operational policies around CMO, delivering services that meet or exceed established service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
  • Continuously assess operational processes to promptly identify, resolve, and escalate issues that could impact client satisfaction or expose the Bank to reputational or financial risks.
  • Uphold the Bank’s commitment to anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, ensuring all cash management activities comply with internal policies and local legal requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Cash Management Operations to align operational procedures and strategic objectives, championing continuous improvements and technological advancements within the ITO (Technology Operations) function.
  • Participate in sales implementation meetings to verify operational feasibility of client commitments, facilitating smoother delivery and enhancing client trust.
  • Vigilantly oversee operational, system, and channel risks related to cash management products. Act swiftly to raise flags on potential breaches or control failures, enabling timely corrective action and risk mitigation.

Skills and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO20022 messaging standards and their application in cash management processes, enabling effective communication and transaction handling within global banking networks.
  • Proven experience working with SWIFT Message Standards and familiarity with CMO processing systems such as SC Pay, ensuring accurate and compliant execution of payments and collections.
  • Strong operational risk management skills, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to cash management products and operational processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders across geographies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational processes, prioritize multiple tasks efficiently, and meet stringent deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and sanctions policies, supporting the Bank’s commitment to compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Proficient with business continuity planning principles and operational crisis management to maintain seamless service delivery during disruptions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, or a related field is preferred and advantageous.
  • Mandatory PASA qualification.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on banking experience with specific exposure to Corporate & Institutional Banking and Cash Management Operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Group’s Cash Management Operations policies, procedures, and sanctions frameworks.
  • Proven experience in using and interpreting SWIFT messaging standards, with emphasis on ISO20022 compliance and effective payment processing systems such as SC Pay.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to foster teamwork and manage conflicts constructively within operational teams.
