Job Description
As a Financial Risk Manager, you will be the principal second-line Financial Risk specialist supporting Wise’s Brazilian operations and legal entities, with opportunities to contribute to Financial Risk matters across LATAM.
This is a Level 5 individual-contributor role combining independent risk oversight with hands-on technical delivery. You will assess and quantify financial exposures, maintain the local Risk and Capital Management framework, support prudential reporting and produce the analysis required for senior management, local governance bodies and regulatory decision-making.
The role requires a detailed understanding of how money moves through Wise Pagamentos, Wise Corretora and relevant Wise group entities, including the accounts, ledgers, counterparties, currencies, settlement mechanisms and regulatory obligations involved.
Your mission
As the regional risk manager you will be responsible for:
Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge of liquidity, funding, intraday liquidity, settlement, counterparty credit, concentration, FX, market, safeguarding, capital and intercompany risks.
Maintain and continue developing Wise Brazil’s Risk and Capital Management framework, policies, risk appetite metrics, limits, KRIs and governance reporting.
Prepare, coordinate or independently challenge capital plans, capital forecasts, RWA calculations and financial risk stress-testing exercises.
Translate Finance forecasts from Group assumptions and IFRS-based information into risk analysis appropriate for the Brazilian entities and COSIF-based prudential framework.
Support the completeness, accuracy and timely submission of applicable prudential and Financial Risk reports, including DDR, DRM, DLO, DLI, DRL, Pilar 3 and other relevant BCB reporting.
Monitor capital adequacy, regulatory and internal limits, concentration exposures, liquidity positions and end-of-day FX positions, escalating actual or forecast breaches.
Analyse BRL liquidity across normal and closed-market periods, including nights, weekends and holidays, and assess the impact of payment-rail, banking-partner or funding constraints.
Define, review and backtest liquidity and safeguarding buffers using historical data, forward-looking volumes and credible stress scenarios.
Assess new products, banking arrangements, safeguarding structures and financial infrastructure by reconstructing the legal-entity and funds flow and quantifying the resulting exposures.
Evaluate the financial and prudential implications of payment systems like Pix, SPI, STR in Brazil, SPEI in Mexico among other LatAm payment systems, FX and settlement arrangements, including cut-offs, prefunding, trapped liquidity and operational concentration.
Perform counterparty and concentration analysis for banks, liquidity providers, safeguarding institutions and other financial partners.
Challenge Finance, Treasury, PayOps, Banking, Product and Engineering on financial assumptions, control design, data quality, reconciliation and remediation plans.
Convert Financial Risk analysis into practical recommendations such as limits, launch conditions, liquidity controls, capital actions, counterparty diversification and contingency arrangements.
Prepare clear recommendations and escalation materials for the Brazilian CRO and CFO, local Risk Committee, Board and other governance forums.
Support Compliance and senior management in technical prudential engagements with Regulators.
Monitor regulatory developments affecting capital, liquidity, safeguarding, FX, concentration and prudential reporting, assessing their quantitative and operational impact.
Collaborate with global Financial Risk teams while ensuring that Brazilian legal-entity and regulatory requirements remain appropriately addressed.
Qualifications
Experience we’re looking for:
Hands-on experience with regulatory capital, RWA, capital planning, liquidity risk or prudential reporting.
Ability to build, review and challenge quantitative models, stress tests, forecasts, limits and financial risk metrics.
Understanding of Brazilian prudential accounting and reporting, including COSIF and applicable BCB reports.
Experience analysing payment and FX flows across multiple legal entities, accounts and settlement mechanisms.
Ability to turn complex financial analysis into clear decisions, launch conditions and senior governance recommendations.
Advanced spreadsheet and data-analysis capability; SQL or equivalent analytical experience is strongly desirable.
