Lead Underwriter Constructionnew

Job Summary: 

This role is for a dynamic and commercial Lead Underwriter Construction to deliver on the ambition and growth of Chubb in the Netherlands and supporting the Benelux Underwriting Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for underwriting complex risks and major accounts, ensuring sustainable growth in a challenging market. This role requires a deep understanding of the Dutch Construction market and strong underwriting skills. 

Key stakeholders for the role are Northern Construction Practice Leader, Regional Underwriting Manager, Major Accounts Segment Leader, CUO, Country Manager, Broker Management, Global Services and Operations Leaders. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Underwrite Construction risks: analysis, calculation and elaboration of technical acceptance CAR, EAR, MB, OAR and CECR of mainly Construction risks.

• Taking a lead position as a senior member of the team both internally as well as externally.

• Quality management: ensure quality control through quantitative acceptance assessments and peer reviews.

• Market strategy: contributing to the underwriting strategy, forecasting and portfolio management. 

• Product Development: developing and underwriting multiline products that meet current market needs.

• Relationship Management: maintain relationships with key clients in the segment and key brokers in the market. 

• Driving Growth and profitability .

• Customer Service: whether it is the broker or the insured directly in this role it is key to ensure customers are provided with the best service possible. Working together with Operations & Client Relationship Managers, Broker Management and the Segment Leader to give A-level service.

• Support and develop other underwriters in the team on underwriting and take referrals if needed.  

The ideal candidate:  

• Significant underwriting experience in technical insurances, therefore understanding underwriting principles, risk management concepts, facultative reinsurance and multinational complex placements

• A background, education or trainings in construction design, engineering or execution; 

• Strong business acumen with a results-driven approach and a proven track record of meeting targets and driving revenue growth; 

• Tech-savvy with the ability to understand the value technology brings to build a successful business in this segment; 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both Dutch and English. The ability to influence and build robust relationships both internally and externally; 

• A customer-focused mindset; 

• Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse market trends and develop innovative solutions for business growth.
