The Manager, Data Analytics and Governance, GRM will be responsible for supporting portfolio monitoring, data analytics, risk appetite reporting, governance processes, and related risk platform activities for retail and small business credit risk. The role provides actionable insights to Risk Management teams, including Acquisition, Account Management, and Collections, as well as business line, technology, governance, and control partners.
The role requires strong SAS/Python, data analytics, data management, and Business Intelligence tool skills. The incumbent will support ongoing portfolio reporting and monitoring for senior management and governance committees, address ad-hoc data requests, contribute to data quality and repository management, and help translate business and risk requirements into practical reporting, automation, and process improvement solutions.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Retail Credit Risk Portfolios Tracking & Data Management
- Use a variety of Business Intelligence analytical and reporting tools, such as SAS, Python, and Tableau, to provide dynamic reporting on key performance metrics to various stakeholders in GRM and business lines
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from executives and key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Perform required data pulls and reconciliations to answer questions. Prioritization and working on more than one request at a time is often required
- Provide actionable insights and meaningful messages from the reporting to drive credit risk decisions
- Collaborate with Acquisition, Account Management, and Collections teams to provide measurement and reporting on strategic initiatives such as acquisition dynamics and quality, line optimization, and collections effectiveness
- Support data quality, completeness, reconciliation, and repository management across portfolio monitoring outputs, Credit Risk Proposal submissions, committee materials, and centralized reporting processes.
Retail & Small Business Credit Risk Appetite, Governance and Committee Reporting
- Support risk appetite cycles, including monitoring, analysis, challenge, documentation, and escalation of limit breaches to senior governance forums.
- Maintain and update key risk appetite and governance documentation, ensuring materials are accurate, current, and aligned with enterprise risk appetite, internal governance frameworks, and business priorities.
- Partner with stakeholders across business units to identify, assess, and address risks with potential impact on the Bank’s risk appetite
- Support the preparation, consolidation, quality review, custodianship, and distribution of Senior Credit Committee and related governance forum materials, enabling decision-focused discussions and effective committee execution.
- Assist with the ongoing enhancement of governance processes, including tracking action items, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and supporting clear, auditable records for approvals, refresh cycles, and change management.
Process Improvement and Customer Focus
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Using our data, continually develop and refine a more holistic customer view.
- Support the administration, workflow governance, repository management, and data integrity of retail and small business credit risk tools and platforms, including RiskChat, Shinkansen, and related reporting repositories.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve reporting processes, automate manual activities, enhance platform usability, and strengthen adherence to governance and control frameworks.
- Assist with the ongoing enhancement of governance processes, including tracking action items, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and supporting clear, auditable records for approvals, refresh cycles, and change management.
Risk Appetite Framework, Policy and Control Alignment
- Leverage consumer data, performance, and behavioral trends to perform correlation analyses and build statistical models for annual limit setting
- Ensure all business line strategic priorities, including life-cycle strategies, early warning triggers, and provisioning, are consistent with the Risk Appetite Framework
- Support the maintenance and periodic refresh of key credit risk governance documents, procedures, and supporting controls by coordinating inputs, performing analysis, and documenting changes where required.
- Assist with audit, regulatory, and control-related requests by gathering information, preparing analysis, tracking remediation activities, and supporting timely, transparent communication with internal stakeholders.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of the respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- University degree in Business, Engineering, Commerce, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline
- 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering
- Proficiency utilizing a variety of analytical tools including SAS, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, dBeaver, Excel and a solid knowledge and understanding of advanced analytical concepts and methodologies
- Proactive and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
- Must be creative, self-starting, results-oriented, and highly motivated with excellent analytical skills
- A good knowledge of the bank’s lending products, including Credit Cards, Line of Credits, Mortgages, and Auto Loans, and should have familiarity with the Bank’s Risk Management activities
- A proven ability to extract and interpret data; transform it into meaningful and actionable business insights effectively and accurately
- Strong analytical, project management, people management and relationship building skills
- A strong sense of urgency and a proven ability to understand, and effectively assess multiple, ongoing requests
- Solid understanding of retail and small business credit risk lifecycle processes, governance processes, risk appetite concepts, credit risk policies, and/or risk decisioning platforms would be considered an asset.
