The Digital S/W Engineer Intmd Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

Responsibilities:

• Turn tech stack and application design into code on multiple development platforms (e.g. iOS, Android, web/Angular, services).
• Address a variety of responses to problems, questions, or situations by applying established criteria to directly influence development outcomes. In doing so, use the right technology to solve technical challenges required to deliver small scale features and functions and / or supporting aspects of a larger program efforts.
• Responsible for applications systems analysis and programming activities that may include assisting with feasibility studies, time and cost estimates and implementation of new or revised applications systems and programs.
• Accountable for development, design, construction, testing and implementation and write secure, stable, testable and maintainable code.
• Expected to operate with autonomy, while some oversight and direction may be required.
• Engage in digital applications development, risk technology, Middleware, Mainframe applications, Non Mainframe applications, Analytic Model Development and Application support activities to meet specific business needs of user areas and to test systems to ensure integrity of deliverables.
• Expected to provide sound understanding of application development concepts and principles and a basic knowledge of concepts and principles in other technology areas.
• On occasion, may need to consult with users, clients and other technology groups on issues and recommend programming solutions for customer exposed systems.
• Take the time to fully learn the functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties of the systems involved with your projects. This includes the business requirements, applications/services, runtime operations (including trouble management/associated support strategies), and maintenance.

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Mid-Level Data Analyst – Observability & Telemetry to join our Digital Applications team. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance, reliability, and health of our customer-facing digital applications.

You will work closely with development, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to implement robust observability practices. By leveraging OpenTelemetry (OTel) and Global Cloud Observability (GCO) frameworks, you will capture critical application metrics, logs, and distributed traces. You will translate this raw telemetry data into actionable insights, interactive dashboards, and proactive alerts using enterprise-scale platforms like Splunk or the ELK Stack. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in data analysis, a passion for system performance, and hands-on experience troubleshooting distributed microservices architectures.

Responsibilities

• Telemetry Implementation: Assist application teams in instrumenting digital applications with OpenTelemetry (OTel) APIs, SDKs, and auto-instrumentation agents to collect high-quality metrics, logs, and traces.
• Dashboard & Alert Development: Design, build, and maintain real-time operational dashboards and visualization tools in Splunk (using SPL) or ELK (Kibana) to monitor application health and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Performance Analysis: Analyze large volumes of telemetry data to identify performance trends, system bottlenecks, latency issues, and operational anomalies across distributed systems.
• Incident Support & Troubleshooting: Support production support and SRE teams during incident investigations by utilizing distributed tracing and log correlation to perform rapid root cause analysis (RCA).
• Data Quality & Governance: Ensure telemetry data is clean, structured, and compliant with enterprise logging standards and data retention policies.
• Collaboration: Partner with software engineers to map end-to-end user journeys and ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage across HTTP/S APIs, microservices, and messaging queues (e.g., Kafka).
• Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of telemetry configurations, dashboard designs, alerting thresholds, and monitoring best practices.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Overall Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in data analysis, systems monitoring, application support, SRE, or a related technical role.
• Telemetry Experience: Minimum 1+ years of hands-on experience working with OpenTelemetry (OTel) or Global Cloud Observability (GCO) frameworks (including tracing, metrics, and logs).
• Platform Experience: Significant hands-on experience (2+ years) utilizing Splunk (writing search queries, creating alerts, building dashboards) or the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
• Infrastructure Awareness: Familiarity with containerized environments such as Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift, and basic cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to correlate disparate data points (logs, metrics, traces) to diagnose complex system behaviors.
