Job Description

Position Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Originator position is responsible for increasing sales through building relationships with borrowers and business partners in order to build a residential loan portfolio.  The MLO must maintain an MLO
license and/or Federal Registration in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). 

Specific Responsibilities:

• Drive Mortgage Production and Financial Results

• The MLO will build a lead pipeline through realtors, previous borrowers and other referral sources via internal leads, by direct mail and/or other marketing activity.

• Take residential loan applications according to established company and regulatory guidelines with specific attention to compliance and loan quality.

• Negotiate terms of the loan for compensation or gain.

• Collect required financial information from borrowers, including information about income, employment history, assets, investments, home ownership, debts, credit history, etc. The MLO will also run credit reports.

• Utilize systems for lead management, product knowledge, registering high quality loans

• Understand and articulate financial calculations and current rate/pricing.

• Partner with operations teams to ensure the seamless transfer of file.

• Compile customer documentation for forwarding to processing or underwriting, and may finalize documents for closing.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years prior retail mortgage origination experience
• Understanding of conventional and government residential loans
• MLO License and/or Federal Registration in the NMLS
