Operations Officer

The Operations Officer is responsible for executing and supporting day-to-day banking operations including payments processing, transaction posting, reconciliations, reporting and client servicing support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Transaction Processing and Payments

• Process client and internal transactions
• Perform independent checks on:
  • Accuracy of transaction details (amount, beneficiary, value date)
  • Completeness of supporting documentation
• Execute verification in the core banking system

Control and Approval Enforcement 

• Ensure all transactions comply with:
  • Authorized Signatory List (ASL)
  • Internal approval thresholds and limits
• Confirm appropriate pre-system approvals are obtained and documented
• Enforce strict adherence to maker / checker / validator controls
• Maintain a strong culture of professional skepticism

Reconciliation Oversight and Break Resolution 

• Monitor and support resolution of:
  • Reconciliation breaks
• Unposted or mismatched transactions
• Investigating suspense account items
• Ensure timely clearance of exceptions within defined timelines

Risk, Compliance and Audit Readiness

• Maintain complete audit trails:
  • Supporting documents attached to the system
  • Clear evidence
• Ensure compliance with: of approvals and validation
  • Internal policies
  • Regulatory expectations
• Support audits and regulatory reviews as required
• Support with regulatory and other reporting requirements

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
• Assist in system implementation projects.
• Participate in operational policy updates and procedure documentation

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 3-5 years’ banking operations/administration/reconciliations experience
• Analytical abilities and proficiency in problem-solving.
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong understanding of payment workflows and reconciliation processes
• Excellent administrative skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Ability to navigate core banking applications and understanding payment rails (BACH) and SWIFT messaging system.  
• Knowledge of Olympic application a plus
