Role: Primary Research Analyst
Location: New York or London

Job Summary: We are looking to add a motivated and intellectually curious Primary Research Analyst to join our growing fundamental research team. In this role, you will support the investment research process by conducting primary research which includes building networks of high-level executives, running channel checks, and synthesizing the findings into actionable insights. You will work closely with experienced investors and researchers while developing the skills needed to become a highly effective primary research professional. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in expert networks, investment research, business research, or recent graduates with strong analytical and communication skills who are interested in pursuing a career on the buy side.
Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of primary research projects and channel checks across a variety of industries and investment themes.
- Identify, recruit, and engage industry experts, suppliers, customers, and other market participants relevant to investment research projects.
- Build and maintain expert panels and industry contact networks to support recurring research initiatives.
- Conduct background research on companies, industries, and competitive landscapes in advance of expert engagements.
- Participate in expert interviews and research calls, taking detailed notes and helping to synthesize key findings.
- Prepare concise written summaries and research reports highlighting actionable insights from primary research activities.
- Collaborate closely with investors and research professionals to refine research questions and support investment decision-making.
- Track industry trends and emerging developments to help identify new research opportunities.
- Develop the research, interviewing, and synthesis skills necessary to succeed in a long-term investment research career
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of professional experience in an expert network, investment research, consulting, business research, market intelligence, or related field.
- Strong interest in financial markets, investing, and primary research.
- Exceptional written communication, note-taking, and information synthesis skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage confidently with industry professionals.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to learning.
- Ability to think critically, evaluate information objectively, and communicate insights clearly.
- Experience recruiting experts, coordinating research calls, moderating interviews, or conducting qualitative research is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience writing research summaries, interview notes, or analytical reports is a plus.
The minimum base salary for this role is $100,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
