Job Description
The Product Lead for Core Banking Platform will unify how the bank prioritises investment in Core Banking, building a single coherent roadmap and creating scalable ways of working across the businesses the platform serves.
We've proven the platform in Real Estate, with over 80% of originations now running on the platform. This role decides which platform capabilities deliver long-term business value as that proof point extends into Structured Lending and Savings.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate — Sustaining & Scaling
- Represent Real Estate's requirements through the 13 in-flight servicing readiness initiatives, Portfolio migration (Q1 2027) and full retirement of the dual-platform estate (Q2 2027).
- Shape the business case for bridging drawdowns as a platform capability — a stretch target for end of 2026.
Structured Lending — Build Support
- Represent Structured Lending's requirements as it builds toward real accounts live in Q1 2027.
- Own the business case for moving off the legacy platform and unlocking new proposition capability such as multi-currency.
Savings Onboarding
- Represent Savings' requirements — the largest book the platform will carry, and the true test of it operating at volume.
Strategic Roadmap Management
- Own and evolve the Core Banking Platform roadmap by gathering and summarising demand across Real Estate, Structured Lending and Savings.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. Core Banking delivery, Engineering, Compliance, Finance) to prioritise initiatives that deliver ROI, reduce platform risk exposure, and align with the Bank's strategic goals.
- Track progress against platform simplification — six legacy platforms retired by 2029 as each book completes its move to Core.
Demand Shaping & Prioritisation
- Facilitate structured collection, documentation, and prioritisation of platform requirements and use cases across Real Estate, Structured Lending and Savings.
- Support business lines to translate platform requests into clear product requirements – who is impacted, what the underlying need is, what success looks like.
- Maintain a data-led view of platform performance and customer/colleague impact across all business lines on the platform, grounding prioritisation in evidence rather than stakeholder volume.
Platform Constraint & Capacity Management
- Partner with both the Core Banking Delivery Lead and Engineering Manager to maintain a clear, shared view of platform capability, technical debt and delivery capacity as build activity ramps up.
- Own trade-off decisions where business lines compete for platform capacity, escalating to the CPO where consensus isn't possible.
- Identify opportunities to build shared, reusable platform capability rather than one-off, business-line-specific solutions.
Business Case & Value Realisation
- Build and support business cases for platform investment using real, in-flight examples as reference points.
- Ensure platform initiatives have robust business cases and stakeholder buy-in to move swiftly into delivery.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Demand/Delivery Partnership
- Act as the bridge between business line product leads (Real Estate, Structured Lending, Savings) and the Core Banking delivery team.
- Bring a mindset of continuous discovery and structured prioritisation to platform demand.
- Act as the escalation point for platform-related roadmap conflicts between business lines.
Value This Role Will Add
- Introduces a single, coherent demand function to the Core Banking Platform, rather than business lines competing for priority independently.
- Owns business outcomes (not just requirements-gathering) such as successful Savings onboarding, Real Estate back-book savings, and Structured Lending's move off Ambit.
- Aligns platform investment with the bank's platform simplification goal — six legacy platforms retired by 2029, consolidating onto one strategic core.
- Builds coherence across every business line on the platform by setting a single, credible roadmap.
- Accelerates delivery through upfront shaping, prioritisation, and a clean demand/delivery split with the Core Banking PM team.
- Elevates the platform's credibility across the bank by clearly articulating the value and rationale behind prioritisation decisions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in product management, ideally in the financial services or fintech industry.
- Proven track record of launching and managing successful digital products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
- Experience with agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Trello, or similar.
- A passion for innovation and a deep understanding of customer needs and market trends.
