Position details
MUFG Global Service Private Limited (MGS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Vice President – Python Developer to support MUFG Securities Asia (MUS Asia) technology initiatives.
This role focuses on automation engineering, system integration, and workflow optimization, with a strong emphasis on transforming manual and Excel-based processes into scalable, platform-driven automation solutions.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of automation workflows leveraging Python, Atlas (automation engine), and Glyph (web UI platform). The role supports both BAU stability and new automation initiatives, including integration across finance, operations, and monitoring platforms.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role, with no direct people management responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Automation & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based automation solutions for operational and financial workflows
- Build and enhance automation workflows using Atlas (automation engine)
- Transform manual processes and macro-based Excel solutions into scalable, production-grade automation
- Develop reusable components and services to improve automation efficiency and standardization
2. System Integration
- Integrate automation solutions with enterprise systems using APIs and data interfaces
- Handle structured and semi-structured data processing, including validation, exception handling, and logging
- Support integration with platforms such as:
- Monitoring tools (e.g., ION, SolarWinds)
- Ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Finance and workflow platforms
3. Platform & Web Enablement (Atlas + Glyph)
- Enable deployment of automation workflows into Glyph (web UI layer)
- Support development of features that provide:
- Workflow visibility
- Monitoring dashboards
- Controlled execution of automation processes
- Contribute to building a centralized, web-enabled automation platform
4. BAU Support & Maintenance
- Monitor automation workflows and platform health
- Perform issue resolution, bug fixes, and performance tuning
- Support incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA)
- Maintain stability and reliability of production systems
5. Project Delivery & Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Project Managers
- Business Analysts
- QA / Testing teams
- Support SIT and UAT phases including defect triaging and resolution
- Deliver automation enhancements aligned to business priorities and timelines
6. Documentation & Governance
- Prepare and maintain:
- Technical design documents
- Runbooks and operational guides
- Ensure solutions meet:
- MUFG IT governance standards
- Audit and control requirements
- Implement logging, monitoring, and audit trails within solutions
7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to:
- Automate manual and repetitive processes
- Improve operational efficiency and resilience
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Github Copilot, Copilot ) to improve productivity
- Contribute to broader AI and automation initiatives within MUS Asia
Job Requirements:
- 8–10 years of experience in software development or automation engineering in enterprise environments
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in building automation services and backend workflows
- Hands-on experience in workflow/process automation platforms (e.g., ProcessMaker or equivalent)
- Proven experience replacing Excel macros, Power Query, and EUC tools with scalable automation solutions
- Experience in system integration, API development, and data processing
- Strong understanding of:
- Logging, monitoring, exception handling
- Secure and resilient application design
- Experience across:
- Operational automation (monitoring, reporting, runbooks)
- Incident handling and support environments
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)
- Experience with databases (e.g., MongoDB)
- Familiarity with monitoring / observability tools (Grafana-style)
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
Education & Soft Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional global teams
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
