Responsibilities

Oaktree's Risk & Reporting (R&R) department delivers best-in-class, technology-enabled analytics and reporting to current and prospective investors, as well as to portfolio management professionals across the firm globally.

We are seeking an AVP or Senior Associate to lead the development and ongoing management of deal monitoring and reporting for our Asset-Based Finance (ABF) strategy. Working closely with the ABF strategy lead and deal team, this person will translate monitoring needs into clear, reliable dashboards and analysis covering collateral performance, credit metrics, and exposures. The successful candidate will combine investment or financial data experience with strong business intelligence and data capabilities, along with sound judgment on how to deliver solutions that are scalable, well governed, easy to use, and straightforward to maintain.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the development, enhancement, and ongoing support of ABF deal monitoring dashboards and reporting, including collateral performance, credit metrics, and exposure analysis at the deal level.
  • Partner closely with the ABF deal team through working sessions and embedded engagements, including borrower calls and vendor data validation where relevant, to understand monitoring needs, validate outputs, and refine the reporting based on live feedback.
  • Establish a reusable monitoring framework so that new deals and views can be added efficiently while maintaining consistent definitions, layouts, and navigation.
  • Translate complex data into intuitive dashboards, recurring reporting, and ad hoc analysis. Apply sound judgment to visual design, page focus, navigation, metric definitions, and disclosures so users can interpret the information with confidence.
  • Develop and maintain the underlying data models, calculations, transformations, and workflows needed to support the dashboards, using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and related data tools.
  • Maintain a high standard for data integrity, security, performance, refresh schedules, naming, and documentation, including appropriate access controls for sensitive deal and investor information.
  • Balance user flexibility with appropriate reporting controls by defining measures and visuals clearly and configuring interactions to reduce the risk of misleading conclusions.
  • Contribute to design standards and best practices for ABF monitoring, and work with the strategy lead to assess requests and resolve trade-offs involving scalability, maintainability, and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 8+ years of experience in data analytics and business intelligence on cloud platforms, ideally within asset management, financial services, or another data-rich environment with comparable rigor.
  • Education and experience that demonstrate both strong technical skills and working knowledge of the data and workflows used in securitized markets or ABF. Experience embedded with an ABF or securitized-credit investment team, or at an ABF-focused software or data firm, is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to alternative investments is required; experience in asset-based finance or structured credit is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced business intelligence skills, including semantic or data modeling, calculations, query and transformation tools, and paginated reporting. Power BI, DAX, and Power Query (M) are used in our environment; comparable experience with platforms such as Tableau, Qlik, or Looker will be considered.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for querying, data analysis, automation, data modeling, and performance optimization, together with practical experience using a distributed data-processing framework such as PySpark.
  • Experience with a modern cloud data platform and its pipeline, orchestration, storage, and development services. Microsoft Fabric and Azure are used in our environment; comparable experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, or GCP will be considered.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, reporting standards, and compliance requirements, including the use of row-level or object-level controls to protect sensitive information.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong judgment on how to build effective analytical solutions, with the confidence to raise concerns about scalability, maintainability, or data accuracy and the collaborative approach to work through them with the strategy lead.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain design choices and trade-offs to senior stakeholders and deal-team partners in clear business terms.
  • Pragmatic under deadline pressure and comfortable using a strong prototype to support discussion, while maintaining a high standard for data model design, accuracy, and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented and rigorous, with a natural problem-solving approach and the discipline to research and validate information before drawing conclusions.
  • Self-motivated team player who works closely with others, adapts well to feedback, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
