Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Associate, Regional Treasury (MENA) to join our MENA Treasury team in Dubai. This role will be a key contributor to the safeguarding and operational resilience of merchant funds, with responsibility for daily safeguarding oversight, execution, fund-flow analysis and related controls.

You will combine strong safeguarding expertise with a broader Treasury skill set across cash management, settlement execution, liquidity and capital management, and Treasury markets. You will work closely with Group Treasury colleagues, Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Legal and banking partners to ensure that funds are protected and new products and regulatory changes are implemented in a controlled manner.

This is a high-impact role for a self-motivated individual who is comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, regulated payments environment and who is able to turn complex safeguarding fund flows and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes.

What you will do

  • Own and enhance the daily safeguarding oversight process for relevant merchant funds across the MENA region, including safeguarding calculations, reconciliations and required balance transfers in line with approved policies, controls and account structures.

  • Support compliance with the safeguarding requirements applicable to Checkout MENA’s regulated activities, including the CBUAE framework and requirements.

  • Monitor, investigate and escalate safeguarding exceptions, control failures, breaches, shortfalls and aged reconciling items; own remediation actions through to completion and maintain clear supporting documentation.

  • Analyse end-to-end payment and fund-flow models, identifying safeguarding and regulatory impacts and making recommendations that support business and product needs.

  • Design and maintain daily safeguarding management information, providing clear analysis and timely escalation to senior management and relevant committees.

  • Develop, document and maintain regional Treasury policies, procedures, operating controls and process maps.

  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and information requests by preparing evidence, explaining processes, responding to queries and tracking actions to closure.

  • Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders on new product, market expansion and regulatory initiatives, assessing fund-flow design and safeguarding treatment.

  • Contribute to Treasury governance, including preparation of papers and reporting for the regional Asset Liability Committee and other senior management forums.

  • Apply generalist Treasury knowledge to support the wider Treasury team with cash management, liquidity management, capital and Treasury Markets decisions, as needed.

  • Support the execution and oversight of Treasury payments, including merchant settlements, funding transfers, safeguarding transfers, intercompany movements and other approved payment instructions across bank accounts, currencies and payment providers, on an as-needed basis.

  • Provide cover for other Treasury team members across the MENA region, as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Treasury or a related financial-services discipline, with direct safeguarding exposure and experience.

  • Hands-on experience in a regulated financial institution, Electronic Money Institution, Payment Service Provider, bank or comparable payments environment.

  • Working knowledge of safeguarding and customer-funds protection principles, including segregation, reconciliation, fund-flow controls, operational risk management and escalation processes.

  • Experience with UAE payments regulation is preferred, including the CBUAE Retail Payment Services and Card Schemes framework and/or Stored Value Facilities requirements. Experience applying safeguarding requirements in the UAE is a plus.

  • Practical experience executing or overseeing high-volume payments, settlements, funding transfers, bank-account operations, payment exceptions and related controls.

  • Treasury knowledge across cash management, liquidity forecasting, capital management, FX execution and Treasury markets, with an understanding of market, liquidity, operational and counterparty risk.

  • Experience using market data, Treasury management systems and data or reporting tools; experience with platforms such as FXAll, Kyriba or equivalent is desirable.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to build or review basic models, investigate data breaks, analyse fund flows and produce clear management information.

  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical policies, procedures, control frameworks and scalable operating processes.

  • Proven ability to lead or deliver complex, cross-functional projects, manage competing priorities, improve processes and automate manual activities.

  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and a proactive approach to identifying issues and preventing recurrence in a high-volume environment.

  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex Treasury matters to senior stakeholders and build effective cross-functional internal and external relationships.

  • Arabic language skills would be beneficial, but not essential.
