Job Description:

DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe. Since its set-up in 2013, Bucharest Technology Centre (BEX) has constantly proven its capacity to deliver global technology products and services, playing a dynamic role in the Bank’s technology transformation.

The team is made up of enthusiastic professionals that work in an international environment adapting to ever-evolving context and learning new technologies and parts of Deutsche Banks’ businesses. We oversee a high-frequency, low-latency Order and Execution Management system, supporting Private Bank business lines across multiple regions. We are not afraid of getting our hands dirty for whatever needs to be done to provide best product to our users and enable them to execute their tasks swiftly and reliably.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance a high-frequency, low-latency Order and Execution Management system supporting Private Bank business lines across multiple regions.
  • Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions using modern Java technologies and engineering best practices.
  • Participate in L3 production support activities, including intra-day support and on-call rotation, ensuring platform stability and timely issue resolution.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical and production issues across distributed applications and system components.
  • Design and implement robust technical solutions using established architectural principles, design patterns, and modern development frameworks.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback to ensure high standards of software quality, maintainability, and performance.
  • Contribute to automated testing initiatives by developing and maintaining unit and integration tests as part of the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and engineering peers in a global and multicultural environment.
  • Participate in solution design and architecture reviews to ensure scalability, extensibility, reusability, and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency and reliability.
  • Support operational excellence by analyzing services, leading investigations, driving remediation activities, and identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort and operational toil.
  • Contribute to security, risk, and control initiatives by identifying, investigating, and addressing potential vulnerabilities and operational risks within engineering solutions.
  • Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the adoption of engineering best practices and continuous learning across the team.
  • Influence engineering standards, tools, practices, and technical direction while contributing to the team's overall effectiveness and delivery excellence.

Skills:

  • Strong software development experience with Java.
  • In-depth understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong knowledge of Java SE fundamentals, including Collections Framework, Generics, and Exception Handling.
  • Hands-on experience with Java 17+ features, including Streams API, Lambda Expressions, and Records.
  • Good understanding of multithreading, concurrency patterns, and JVM memory management.
  • Experience developing unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, efficient, and testable code following industry best practices.
  • Experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks through debugging and JVM tuning.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and promoting coding standards.
  • Understanding of asynchronous communication patterns and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Git, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and TeamCity.
  • Knowledge of cloud and container technologies, including GCP and Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Linux, and Bash scripting.
  • Strong understanding of software quality, maintainability, and QA automation practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative approach to solving technical challenges in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to learn quickly and investigate complex system landscapes.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in an international and cross-functional environment.
  • Continuous learning mindset and commitment to engineering excellence.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Capital Markets, preferably with Trading Systems.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, or Solace.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
  • Knowledge of the FIX Protocol.
