As a Senior Credit Originator in Real Estate Banking (REB), you oversee and drive the new loan origination process for commercial real estate clients. You apply strong knowledge of the commercial real estate industry, banking rules and regulations, and hands-on experience administering construction and term loans secured by real estate. You independently manage dynamic credit situations while leading effectively to optimize team resources and deliver accurate, timely results.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new loan opportunities and drive strategic new business opportunities by identifying strengths and weaknesses of proposed transactions
  • Contribute to the development and execution of client strategies in collaboration with Client Executives
  • Structure complex loans and coordinate the credit approval process with Underwriters, Client Executives, and Credit Executives
  • Present proposed loan transactions to senior management by clearly articulating the reasoning behind recommended credit decisions
  • Review underwriting materials, Investment Committee Memorandums, Credit Approval Packages, and Risk Rating recommendations
  • Prepare and negotiate term sheets and negotiate loan documentation
  • Coordinate the real estate closing process, including reviewing due diligence
  • Oversee compliance with underwriting standards and guidelines, credit approval requirements, and related policies and procedures for new originations
  • Assist with training and development of junior staff members and, where applicable, manage staff

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • 10+ years of commercial banking/lending experience, including extensive credit, structuring, closing, and loan documentation experience
  • Experience in Commercial Real Estate Credit
  • Communicate clearly and diplomatically, including expressing and supporting opinions, listening thoughtfully to feedback, and articulating positions to senior management
  • Build strong relationships with clients, counsel, product partners, and senior management through superior interpersonal skills
  • Significant accounting and finance knowledge, along with strong real estate fundamentals and concepts
  • Strong analytical and business writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Hold a BA/BBA

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Possess knowledge of JPMorganChase or similar bank policies and procedures
  • Completion of a major corporate banking credit training program
  • Hold a MBA

 

The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer.  It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level.
